This position will preferably be domiciled in Jackson, MS, but Little Rock, AR may be considered based on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

This position may be filled as a Specialist I or II based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

The Financial Assistance Specialist is part of the low-income customer initiative team in corporate social responsibility who staffs the company’s help desk to resolve customer billing issues and assists with third-party pledges and payments. The role is knowledgeable in Entergy’s operating company regulatory, credit and collections and bill payment requirements and tools that help solve problems and ease the flow of assistance dollars to Entergy customers.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operates Entergy’s financial assistance web portal, an email inbox and 1-800 help desk line.

  • Negotiates pledges and accepts bill payment assistance from partner agencies on behalf of clients. Explains client account information to third parties acting as client advocates.

  • Assists agencies with customer account management, including transferring balances on closed customer accounts to new accounts so FINA pledges can be made; processing pledge retractions in cases of error; offering billing, payment and overall account history insights.

  • Troubleshoots and protects customer accounts when payment systems fail at the agency or state level.

  • Submits IT SNOW tickets and troubleshoots portal problems. Conducts IT tests of portal fixes and enhancements.

  • Participates in community outreach and events associated with third-party bill payment programs.

  • Monitors overall program performance and identifies improvement opportunities.

  • Serves as subject matter expert and demonstrator for special projects involving internal and external stakeholders.

  • Manages logistics support and other projects as required by Corporate Social Responsibility.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum education required of the position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or equivalent work experience.

Minimum Experience required of the position:

  • Specialist I: 0 - 1 years of experience required.

  • Specialist II: 2 - 4 years of experience required without a degree; 1 year of experience required with a degree.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position:

  • Advanced knowledge in CCS, SAP and the FINA portal, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

  • Customer service orientation.

  • Ability to present internally and externally.

  • Ability to work independently and to lead a team.

Office environment with minimal physical requirements.
