This is a job for a Regional Safety Specialist with a company located in the Jackson, MS area.

Job Summary: The Regional Safety Specialist will provide General Managers, Plant Managers, and Plant Safety Coordinators safety culture enabling leadership, reliable technical support and expertise, timely direction and decision making, and ensure safety programs are effectively adopted and executed with quality. In partnership with other safety practitioners, this leader will be innovative, and take industry leading approaches to drive continual improvement.

Responsibilities: Facilitate and provide guidance and expertise for the development of a world class safety culture at site(s). Build a culture that integrates safety with daily operations; reduce frequency and severity of injuries; reduce costs to develop a more productive, effective and safe workforce in compliance with all applicable standards and regulations. With support from Regional Safety Director and Operations Leadership, ensure all site health and safety processes are effectively established and regularly reviewed. Serve as resource to management during implementation and execution of standard safety programs. Implementation of site occupational health programs including but not limited to: Hazardous Energy Control (Lockout/Tagout/Tryout), Confined Space Entry, Machine Safety/Guarding, Emergency Preparedness, Powered Industrial Vehicles, Fall Protection & Prevention, Ergonomics, Electrical Safety. Interact with site workforce, building relationships and providing safety expertise and coaching; 75%+ of the time is expected to be visiting locations in the region. Conduct inspections and audits in site to detect existing or potential hazards and determine corrective or preventative measures. Provide reports to Regional Safety Director. In a supportive manner, coaches' teams and individuals in the moment when opportunities to correct at-risk behaviors are observed. Equally important, recognizes and reinforces those working safely and following safety standards. Coordinate the incident investigation process with locations and Regional Safety Director, ensuring root cause analysis identified and preventative/corrective actions documented and effectively completed to prevent incident/injury recurrence. Assist locations with necessary safety and compliance training for all individuals to assure compliance with company and regulatory requirements. Monitor safety trends/data and provide appropriate feedback and solutions to Regional Safety Director to drive continual improvement.

Qualifications: 3+ years of safety experience and an associate's degree in occupational health and safety or related discipline, OR in lieu of degree, must have a minimum of 5+ years Occupational Health and Safety specific experience required in a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated knowledge of applicable federal/state health and safety regulations is required. Acts with integrity and can critically make decisions, prioritizes effectively, is reliable, and values serving others. Ability to partner and provide strong influence on site leadership to support injury and incident reduction and regulatory compliance. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills; must work well in teams and be able to develop relationships with various levels of management. Highly organized; superior time management skills. Proven ability to multi-task, complete projects on time. Technical competence, experience and demonstrated knowledge in high hazard environments. Exceptional communication skills both written and oral. Microsoft Office knowledge and skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Strong data management and analytical skills. Ability to travel up to 75% of the time.
