This Position is for a Superintendent - Water/Wastewater with a company in Jackson, MS.

Job Summary: Brasfield & Gorrie, a leading General Contractor in the Southeast, is searching for an experienced Superintendent to join our growing utilities team to run large scale, multi-million-dollar projects in the water and waste water market sector.

Duties And Responsibilities: Oversees all field operations on a project and responsible for coordinating subcontracted and self-performed trade work in accordance with the overall schedule and contract documents. Advocates safety as number one priority on the jobsite and enforces compliance with company, contract, and government standards and policies. Partners with Estimating, Division Management and Project Management to supervise, direct, report, and coordinate management of construction projects, including direct liaison with owner, designers, and subcontractors to ensure efficient and orderly performance of the job. Assist in development of an overall construction schedule and sequence of work to assure all work is in place in accordance with contract documents. Responsible for daily reports, progress reports, compliance reports, and logs as well as knowledge of submittal schedule and delivery dates for all critical path material and equipment. Oversees the review of plans and drawings in construction project. Recruits, hires and directs the work of all company onsite field personnel in accordance with HR processes and procedures. Prepares or oversees submission of payroll to Payroll Department and all documentation required to comply with HR and Payroll policies and procedures. Confers with supervisory personnel and employees (with appropriate assistance from HR and Legal) to resolve complaints and grievances within accordance with contract documents and the coordination of shop drawings. Procures tools and materials needed for the project to ensure availability according to the project schedule. Determines staffing levels and timing considering building methodology as well as the availability of tools and equipment for each phase of the construction project. Works with supervisory personnel and employees, engineers, architects, subcontractors, inspectors, and supplier of tools and materials to improve construction methods and resolve construction issues. Ensures construction schedules are adhered to by determining appropriate staffing levels and material and tool procurement. Accurately report work in place progress and assist with project schedule updates in accordance with project documents. Supervises and coordinates subcontractors to monitor their compliance with subcontract terms. Follows and enforces company policies and procedures. Coordinates and oversees regulatory inspections.

Education and Qualifications: High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred; minimum of 8 years of relevant utilities construction experience preferred. 5 years supervisory experience in utilities construction. In-depth understanding of installation of public/private/fire water lines, fittings, and testing, including installation of meters and backflow preventers. Understands the installation of sanitary sewer lines and structures. Current knowledge and ability to apply relevant local, state, and federal rules and regulations, including OSHA. Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing and to present information to top management, owners, subcontractors, and other outside entities. Professional attitude and appearance. People management skills. Leadership and management skills (see Superintendent Skill sets). Must be able to travel frequently by car and air to jobsites and prospective jobsites throughout the United States and to work out of town for significant periods of time when the job requires onsite supervision. Must be able to traverse construction jobsites in all kind of work environments and weather to review work in progress, examine quality of work, and troubleshoot issues. Works significant portion of day outside on construction site. Must be able to stand for long periods and work at heights. Must be able to work in all types of weather (including exposure to extremes of hot and cold) and in all kinds of work environments. Able to lift/move up to 70 pounds. Able to stand; crawl; climb ladders & stairs; balance; stoop and kneel; etc (physical activities associated with construction sites). Must be able to withstand for long periods of time noise, fumes, airborne particles, etc. associated with construction sites. Valid driver's license.
