Jacobs Assistant Planner in Jacksonville, Florida

We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Planner in Jacksonville, Florida to join our Program Management Team leading a $2B+ construction program that will enhance the lives of K-12 students!

The Assistant Planner will support the development and implementation of strategic plans to ensure the efficient use of resources and the effective operation of school facilities.

Key responsibilities include:

• Support Facility Planning: Assist in developing short and long-range plans for school facilities, including new construction, renovations, and maintenance.

• Data Collection and Analysis: Collect and analyze demographic data to forecast student enrollment and determine the need for new or expanded facilities.

• Budget Assistance: Help prepare and manage budgets for school construction and maintenance projects.

• Community Engagement: Collaborate with local government officials, community groups, and stakeholders to ensure plans meet community needs.

• Report Preparation: Prepare detailed reports and presentations on planning proposals and projects.

• Project Coordination: Support the implementation of construction and renovation projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.

• A Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Architecture, Public Administration, or a related field.

• Experience: 5+ years of experience in urban planning, facilities management, or a related field.

Ideally, here’s what you’ll also have:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills

• Proficiency in planning and drafting software and tools (ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Photoshop).

• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Knowledge of SREF, local, state, and federal regulations related to school facilities.

• Ability to facilitate in-person and virtual public participation activities

• Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously

• AICP credentialed.
