Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Supply Technician in Jacksonville, Florida

This is technical administrative work in assisting with the JSO supply warehouse center which includes inventory of equipment and supplies; preparation, verification, inspection, research and correction of various packing slips, freight bills, and other documents; distribution of various supplies, equipment, and special orders to appropriate areas; customer service via direct customer contact, via email, and by telephone.Work requires the ability to operate various equipment.Contacts require skills in understanding and communicating with others which are important in responding to and resolving problems. Work is performed following somewhat diversified procedures and standards and involves similar situations requiring choice of correct procedures. Work is performed in both office and warehouse environments, where the risks are known, predictable and controllable. Operates truck or van and loading equipment as well as standard office equipment to include hand/power tools to assist in loading and unloading supplies and equipment.The physical demands range from sitting or standing at a work station for extended periods of time to moderate physical exertion in lifting and moving equipment and supplies weighing 50 pounds or more. Work is performed under general supervision where the work assignments are varied and, although subject to standard practices and procedures, the worker is permitted some latitude to set priorities subject to the superior's approval.

Examples of Work
  • Receives, stores, maintains, prepares, and distributes various supplies and equipment.
  • Performs heavy volume customer service.
  • Handles inventory management, performs cycle counting, maintains receipts, packing slips, and related paper work.
  • Performs accurate, timely inventory transactions, processes surplus items, and special orders.
  • Maintains accurate records and files.
  • Inspects receiving items, invoices, and cost for accuracy.
  • Handles delivery of items/orders to appropriate area.
  • Operates a motor vehicle, office equipment, and machinery. Communicates effectively.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the City of Jacksonville Core Competencies.
  • Performs related work as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of JSO supply and inventory processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of techniques, methods, and procedures used in operating a warehouse, supply unit.
  • Knowledge of computerized inventory management and distribution systems.
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply JSO written orders relative to supply orders and inventory control processes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing 50 pounds or more.
  • Ability to provide high volume customer service.
Open Requirements/Supplemental Information
  • A three-year combination of education, training, and experience in a technical administrative capacity which includes supply, inventory, and warehousing functions.

LICENSING/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:

  • FL Class E Driver's License is required prior to appointment and must be maintained.Depending upon assignment,
  • FL Class B Driver's License may be required prior to appointment and must be maintained.
  • City of Jacksonville Public Driver Certification must qualify for prior to appointment, obtain and maintain during employment.
