U.S. Marine Corps CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER, NF-0801-04 in Jacksonville, North Carolina

Responsibilities What to Expect Provides general oversight and management of projects and independently plans estimates, inspects, monitors and controls projects in connection with maintenance, repair, renovations and new construction. Through direct collaboration with customers, defines user needs and facility requirements as part of initial project development. Designs projects and prepares construction drawings by using computer programs such as AutoCAD, Revit and other related programs ensuring designs are in compliance with applicable building codes. Prepares cost estimates for minor construction and renovation projects for approval by higher authority. Review and interpret architectural and engineering plans, estimate labor and material costs for major/minor work projects and prepares detailed job orders for contract solicitation if required. Prepares project information and acts as project manager on specific construction tasks as required to include minor construction and maintenance and repair projects. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications What are we looking for? A minimum of four years of experience that demonstrates knowledge and experience in applying the principles, methods, techniques and theories of field engineering as well as all phases of project planning and estimating so as to oversee the management and administration of various construction and renovation projects. Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university that led to a degree in engineering or construction management is preferred. Must possess knowledge of various construction trades and building codes in order to identify work to be accomplished through accepted trade practices. Knowledge of the design and construction project process to include all phases of design, coordination and integration of all construction activities, and judicious allocation of available resources. Must have the ability to manage construction projects and strong organizational skills with the capability to manage multiple projects effectively. Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Must possess and maintain a valid driver¿s license.
