The opportunity

This position serves as an Independence project manager supporting the evolution of the Independence and broader Risk Management systems and process related to client and engagement acceptance. This position is responsible for understanding the changing regulatory environment and developing and supporting practical system applications to enable compliance with rules, regulations, EY Independence policies and guidance. This role serves as a liaison between Independence teams as well as the broader Risk Management function and client teams. Responsibilities include advising professionals across a range of service lines, industry sectors and geographic areas on complex, non-standard issues regarding the process/es. Responsibilities also include proactively suggesting modifications and enhancements to make certain the process/es and/or supporting system/s continuously improve to better enable client teams while managing risk. This position interacts with executive level personnel and is responsible for driving various process initiatives.

Your key responsibilities

  • Drives process initiatives, supports colleagues to meet deadlines, encourages input from and learning between all team members

  • Proposes suggestions and solutions for improvements to process/es and/or develops new approaches or deliverables by leveraging rules and regulations, EY Independence policies and guidance, and business experience

  • Utilizes technical knowledge and service line or core infrastructure knowledge to resolve conflicts on complex or non-standard issues related to client and engagement acceptances processes

  • Establishes and implements project plans including goals and measures with targeted follow up for all approved changes and enhancements to the process/es

  • Responsible for keeping documentation and information regarding process/es up to date

  • Collaborates with Independence executives and senior managers globally on initiatives and proposed enhancements, soliciting and incorporating input while seeking efficient, sustainable solutions

  • Acts as a liaison between various Independence and Risk Management teams as well as client-serving engagement teams across service lines and industries

  • Manages client relationships so that expectations are met or exceeded by advising what to expect and by when and through listening to clients’ needs

  • Keeps abreast of emerging regulatory changes, knowledge, trends and lessons learned Contributes to training presentations, as needed, to communicate new developments and resulting impacts to Independence network and others

  • Through regular interaction, develops relationships and builds a network of people within Independence, Risk Management and across the firm

Skills and attributes for success

  • Position requires significant levels of independent judgment and discretion in identifying issues and application of technical knowledge, interpreting relevant firm policies and guidelines

  • Position requires an enhanced understanding of key requirements of firm independence policies and applicable and emerging rules and regulations. The position makes recommendations based on firm policies and guidance, professional standards and acquired experience. Position requires the ability to reference existing policies to understand complex issues and, through consultation, propose process enhancements and solutions to obstacles.

  • Understands requirements of EY Independence policies and guidance and regulators’ independence rules and is also fully knowledgeable about other risk management considerations

  • Takes responsibility for complex Independence projects and works independently with periodic feedback. Position may train and mentor other Independence team members to familiarize the team with firm process(es) and policies and to enable these team members to handle more complex issues.

  • Longer hours will be required throughout the year and will vary based on volume of work in the pipeline.

To qualify you must have

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

• 7 plus years related experience

What we offer

We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $100,000 to $187,000. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $120,000 to $212,500. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Join us in our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances. You’ll also be granted time off for designated EY Paid Holidays, Winter/Summer breaks, Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
