FCS Financial Team Leader, Title Services in Jefferson City, Missouri

Description/Job Summary

At FCS Financial, part of the Farm Credit System and largest lending cooperative in the United States, we are looking for a Team Leader, Title Services to join our top-quality team!

Position Overview

This position leads staff in the Title Services Department which includes Title Closing Specialist and Title and Escrow Officers in providing service and support to both internal and external clients by producing timely, efficient, accurate and regulatory compliant title commitments and policies, and providing closing and escrow functions for transactions with agricultural and consumer loans secured by agricultural, commercial and residential real estate.

A Hybrid - Remote Office Work Environment and flexible work schedule will be considered after the initial training period is complete and based on the candidate's qualifications and needs.

Preferred office location is in Jefferson City, MO.

This position is classified as Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Responsibilities/Duties

30%Leadership & Training

  • Develops, motivates, and evaluates a team of Title Closing Specialist and Title/Escrow Officers

  • Recommends filling positions, hiring decisions, and and promotions

  • Determines division of responsibilities and provides work guidance and direction

  • Monitors and manages staff workload and provides assistance as needed

  • Recommends and implements performance standards and goals

  • Monitors leaves of absences, evaluates, approves requested time off

  • Approves, denies, submits staff expense reports

  • Identifies training needs and timing of training

25%Title Services Operations

  • Develop title agency policies, procedures and processes considering the Association's related closing and escrow functions and processes.

  • Leads title services activities including building and maintaining relationships with internal staff, vendor searchers and real estate agents.

  • Provides direction, training, and support to team members related to title and closing processes and procedures

  • Develops and prepares monthly reports to Risk Management and Executive Leadership

  • Works with Vice President, Title and Loan Services to resolve title issues

  • Monitors reports for title services documentation

25%Title Services Documentation and Closing Coordination:

  • Process incoming files to include reviewing documents, sales contracts, lender title orders, entering data into title production software, obtaining tax information, and requesting additional title information

  • May perform title searches and examinations as needed

  • Prepares, supervises and finalizes title commitments and title policies

  • Facilitates and supervises preparation of grant deeds, quitclaim deeds, notes, deeds of trust, requests for notice, subordination agreements, financing statements, and the like

  • Works with the Title Services, Loan Services and Marketplace in resolving issues (e.g., legal descriptions, easements, lot splits, vesting, federal tax liens, liens, abstracts of judgment, bankruptcies, boundary disputes, and encroachments)

  • Completes settlement statements based on appropriate documentation

  • Follows company standards and practices when processing transactions, as well as applicable state laws and guidelines

  • Coordinates the closing of an escrow between the principals of the escrow

  • Coordinate with underwriters or internal legal counsel as necessary for approval of items, if required

  • Reviews closing instructions, escrow letters and various other documents for loan closings

  • Coordinates closings with Loan Services and Marketplace staff

  • Communicates closing requirements and confirms requirements are met

15%Training Development and Presentation

  • Develops a plan to onboard new employees

  • Identifies topics to be included in formal training for Title Services department staff (Training Academy)

  • Develops training materials

  • Schedules training sessions

  • Presents training materials

  • Provides coaching and direction to Title Closing Specialist and Title and Escrow Officers

5%Policies and Procedures

  • Serves as a member of various workgroups involved in the development and recommendation of updates to policies, procedures, and processes

  • Stays abreast of policy, procedure, and process changes and communicates updates and revisions to staff

Required Skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or a related field,

  • 5+ years of direct experience in the land title industry, title agency management experience preferred

  • A Missouri Title Agent License is preferred, or ability to obtain a Missouri license within 3 months of hiring

  • Valid Missouri driver's license

  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Possesses extensive knowledge in all areas of escrow and title operation

  • Skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature

  • Attentive to detail

  • General knowledge of mortgage and commercial loan documentation, loan closing and disbursements

  • General knowledge of real estate terminology and contracts

  • General knowledge of consumer lending laws

  • Communication skills sufficient to discuss a variety of job-related topics, and to effectively communicate complex issues

  • Skill in listening and conveying awareness of a customer's problem or issue to find resolution

  • Skill in utilizing Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook to increase efficiency and/or effectiveness

  • Skill in processing complex, detailed information in an accurate and thorough verbal and written communication skills, sufficient to share and exchange information effectively with peers, subordinates, supervisor and both internal and external customers

  • Skill in setting priorities to reflect the importance of job responsibilities
