Job Summary

This is a single position posted at multiple levels. The description below is based on requirements for 1st year, additional skills and experience are required for 2nd, 3rd, 4th and Aft 4th.

Salary will be offered commensurate with experience.

Under moderate to minimal supervision, perform skilled work related to maintaining, repairing, inspecting, installing and rebulding all types of power plant equipment and structures.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Diagnose trouble, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

Perform alignment on rotating equipment and other types of equipment. Use monitoring equipment such as vibration and thermal test equipment to assess equipment conditions.

Erect and remove scaffolding, rigging and blocking if required.

Prepare and maintain records as required.

Maintain equipment, tools and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.

If a welder, perform all position electric arc and oxyacetylene structural and pipe welding on equipment.

Perform duties in accordance with AEP safety rules, operating instructions, clearance procedures, and all applicable environmental and safety rules and regulations and current practices.

Train for and carry out assignments in fire fighting, first aid and other emergency response programs as required.

Perform other job duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Two year Associate degree in power plant technology, industrial technology, engineering technology or equivalent.

Experience: Equivalent would include: Associates degree in another discipline and two years of related work experience, OR high school diploma with four years of related work experience OR high school diploma with two years of related military experience. Related experience is listed under Principal Accountabilites.

Successful completion of the Power Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS) is required for this position. A review of Employment Testing Information, Test-Taking Tips, together with the MASS Practice Tests may be helpful.

Possess a appropriate State driver's license.

Must possess relevant mechanical maintenance job experience and have maintained all the appropriate qualifications.

Must be able to read, interpret and work from complex prints and specifications.

Must have a thorough working knowledge of equipment clearance procedures and the rules, safety practices and procedures applicable to the work.

Respond to callouts to maintain and support business operational needs and schedules.

If chosen to be a certified welder, Must pass the Oklahoma State Welders Test within nine months of hire date and pass code welding tests according to the Public Service Company's welding specifications.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Climb ladders & stairs a number of times each day. Use fine dexterity to move switches & controls to precise locations Detect color on alarms, equipment & other devices Hear announcements on the Plant PA system, and to hear abnormal sounds of plant equipment Communicate plant information by phone, in person or by radio Work on heights, grating, platforms and catwalks. Exert up to 50 lbs of pressure to manually turn off valves. Able to stand or walk continuously for up to 8 hours.
