ManpowerGroup Java Developer (Scala) (Jersey City) in Jersey City, New Jersey

Experis IT (a ManpowerGroup company) has partnered with a leading financial services organization. The job location is in Jersey City, NJ for a contract Agile Software Engineer (Java/Scala) to assist their team. We require candidates who are willing to provide their last 5 years of W2 records (The client will conduct a thorough background check upon hire). The candidates must be local and W2 only; no third-party candidates will be accepted at this time.

Title: Agile Software Engineer (Java/Scala)

Location: Jersey City, NJ ( onsite job, need local candidates only)

Duration:    12- 18+ months

Rate: 60-73$/Hour on W2

Job Summary:

Responsibilities: As a part of Agile Team

  1. Work collaboratively with users to refine requirements.

  2. Design and develop high-quality and scalable systems.

  3. Assist users during the QA/UAT process.

  4. Engage in hands-on, technical tasks with a focus on active development.

  5. Demonstrate knowledge of the problem domain from previous employments.

  6. Participate in Agile practices, including pair programming and daily stand-ups.

  7. Share code base with continuous integration practices.

  8. Willingness to participate in the production support role.

Requirements:

Non-negotiable:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in developing solutions with core Java.

  • 2+ years of professional experience in developing solutions with Scala or other functional languages.

  • Experience in writing Unit Tests and Acceptance/Behavior Tests.

  • Ability to deliver quality code on a timely basis.

  • Strong data structure, algorithm, and problem-solving skills.

  • Desire to work in an Agile environment.

Nice to have:

  • Message-oriented-middleware (Kafka, AMQP, MQ, AMPS, etc.) experience.

  • Experience with distributed systems.

  • Web Application development skills (JavaScript, AngularJS, Bootstrap, etc.).

  • REST API design and development expertise.

  • Experience in DDD/CQRS/Event sourced systems.

  • Relevant industry (banking middle/back office) experience.

  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Python, etc.).

  • Experience with automated deployment technologies (Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Docker, etc.).

  • Familiarity with 3rd party Scala libraries and frameworks (Scalactic, Scalatra, Akka, RxScala, TypeLevel libraries, etc.).

  • Understanding of Category Theory.

Deal Breakers:

  • Inability to think through complex problems.

  • Inability to understand abstractions.

  • Lack of interest in professional growth and learning.

  • Lack of passion for quality.

  • Lack of delivery focus.

If you don’t enroll within 30 days of the proposed email, you may not have coverage. Benefits are effective on the first day of the month 30 days after you start working.
