JPMorgan Chase Senior Director of eSoftware Engineering - Equities Algo Trading in Jersey City, New Jersey

As a Senior Director of e Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate & Investment Banking's Electronic Trading group, you will join a global team with a presence in New York, London, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. You will be part of our global liquidity team responsible to manage to develop next generation Smart Order Router platform that provides to client a true multi-asset ultra-low latency Electronic Trading Stack that covers multiple lines of business across Electronic Client Solutions, Delta One, Program Trading, Central Risk Book, Single Stock and DMA. The main development platform is C++ on Linux operating system. Candidate should have exceptionally strong programming & design skills in modern C++, and possess a good understanding of algorithms, data structures, operating systems, networks, and hardware, and with advanced experience in low latency software development. Any prior experiences in developing high-frequency trading platform and order management system is desirable. Knowledge in Equities, Futures & Options business is a plus, but not required.

Job responsibilities

  • Take end to end responsibilities of areas/apps, Drive projects/Complex assignments. Ability to provide overall direction, oversight, and coaching for entry-level to mid-level software engineers that work on basic to moderately complex tasks

  • Design, Enhance and Develop various Apps/Modules in Electronic Trading Stack like Smart Order Routing, Internal Matching Engine, Market Access, Risk Management in C++ Develop and maintain automated testing

  • Develop scalable real-time processing solutions using agile methodologies

  • Ensures successful collaboration across teams and stakeholders

  • Identifies and mitigates issues to execute a book of work while escalating issues as necessary

  • Participating in various stages SDLC of JPMorgan Electronic Trading services

  • Exhibit sound judgment under pressure in handling time critical situations

  • Lead and follow Agile Methodologies and Principles

  • Self-motivated, multi-tasking, with strong analytical and problem solving skills, solution oriented and results driven.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ year of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise and more broadly across the organization

  • Advanced knowledge of C++11/14 onwards. Template and generic meta programming

  • Expertise in multi-threaded / concurrent programming

  • Proven experience in design and development of low latency, real-time, scalable electronic trading systems

  • Advanced knowledge of Software Architecture, Design, Algorithms

  • Strong Unix/Linux background with understanding of OS and kernel architecture

  • Strong network programming with good understanding of TCP/UDP protocols and kernel-bypass

  • Good scripting skills ( Shell/Perl/Python)

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Understanding of FIX protocol is desirable

  • Knowledge of market data distribution and order management system

  • Familiarity with modern Continuous Integration development practices

  • Exposure/Ability learn other languages & technologies like Java, Cloud Technologies etc.

  • Kernel tuning and low-level system programming

  • Knowledge of Electronic Trading and Equities, Futures, and Options Exchange Connectivity in global markets is desirable

  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams and develop meaningful relationships to achieve common goals
