Roster org within AWS Fintech owns the headcount management and organizational strategy charter. We own parts of the larger ecosystem of inter-connected products in the workforce planning and management functional space. Effective controllership combined with an optimal user experience is an absolute requirement to manage approved plan and hiring to successfully staff our Amazon businesses with the right talent at the right time. Our systems form the centerpiece of this ecosystem and establish the source of truth for approved plans. The products we own have Amazon-wide adoption and have become business critical for AWS and other Amazon business flywheels. Key job responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for mentoring and coaching a team of software developers to create world-class systems that support Amazon's global footprint. You must be willing to insist on the highest standards for quality, maintainability, and performance. You will ensure that engineering best practices are followed and that software is designed to be highly available, dynamically scalable, and resilient to continuity threats.

You will drive architectural and design choices and invent new features. Key job responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall product development life cycle

  • Develop the long-term strategy for your programs and translate that into an achievable road map/action plan

  • Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments

  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment

  • Build and manage a team of engineers. Recruit, hire, mentor, and coach technical staff

  • Work closely with the engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach

  • Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to leadership

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of engineering experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
