Requirements: * U.S. Citizen or National or be lawfully permitted to the U.S. as a permanent resident or otherwise authorized to be employed * Males born after 12/31/59 to be registered with Selective Service * Combination of education, general and specialized experience to meet GS-6-7 level ****Full details for qualifications, education and experience required available online Duties: * Provides technical expertise on fire protection and prevention issues. Assists in the preparation of fire prevention plans. Participates in fuel management activities involving fire effects monitoring, and fuels sampling. * Determines probable cause of fires and collects and preserves evidence. Plans, organizes, supervises, schedules and directs group fire prevention/education contacts with internal and external entities * Recommends or prepares public service announcements. Makes presentations or talks as required. * Issues on the spot Notices of Violations and designates corrective action. Recommends issuing burning or campfire permits with regards to fire danger levels. * Establishes and maintains external contacts for the purpose of promoting the fire prevention program, explaining applicable rules, regulations and securing cooperation in support of fire prevention education programs and policies.
