Innovation Associates, Inc. Process Engineer Intern in Johnson City, New York

The Role:

As a Process Engineer Intern at iA, you'll gain valuable hands-on experience that complements your technical coursework. This internship will immerse you in various process improvement, design, and quality engineering tools and techniques used in manufacturing. You'll work both independently and as part of a team, with the opportunity to positively impact our product and process flows, enhancing the quality, consistency, and efficiency of our assembly operations. The iA Intern Program is from Tuesday, May 27, 2025 to Friday, August 1, 2025.

What you’ll do:

  • Optimize Processes: Contribute to developing, enhancing, and implementing innovative system processes to maximize efficiency from design through manufacturing.

  • Create Documentation: Assist in creating and publishing clear, detailed process documentation that serves as a crucial resource for our manufacturing team.

  • Design and Develop: Help design and develop processes and tooling that adhere to budget constraints and maximize value for our products.

  • Identify Improvements: Evaluate existing processes to uncover opportunities for improvement. Drive initiatives to reduce costs, enhance quality, promote sustainability, and boost productivity, establishing best practices for manufacturing.

  • Support Production: Aid in improving process capabilities and increasing production volume while maintaining high-quality standards.

  • Innovate Methods: Implement innovative methods and process designs by building prototypes, conducting tests, and making modifications to achieve optimal performance.

    Who you are:

  • Actively pursuing a degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.

  • Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical knowledge to tackle various engineering challenges.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to facilitate collaboration and clear documentation.

  • Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to producing consistent, high-quality work.

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications.

    Even better if you have:

  • Practical experience with AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor or a similar CAD software used to create detailed designs, layouts and tooling.

  • Basic understanding of Lean Six Sigma tools and methodologies

  • Ability to read and interpret prints, schematics, and similar layouts.

  • A familiarity with failure analysis techniques to troubleshoot and improve processes.

  • Practical experience with soldering and crimping to support manufacturing tasks.

    Compensation:

    The estimated hourly rate range for this position is $18.00 to $26.00 per hour, though a candidate's hourly rate shall be determined on a range of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications and experience.
