Avangrid Service Company Senior Manager - Learning & Development in Johnson City, New York

The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from $122,699 to $168,711

JOB SUMMARY:

The L&D Senior Manager role is critical to our organizational sustainability as the point person for managing and executing all local and global leadership programs at Avangrid.

The Sr Manager will work across the Talent Development and Learning team to understand the developmental needs of Top Talent and meet those needs with inclusive, innovative, relevant, business-driven programs.

The incumbent will collaborate with business leaders to ensure alignment with business goals and with colleagues to ensure alignment with the overall learning strategy and desired employee experience.

The Sr Manager will oversee a team of learning professionals responsible for

Avangrid's learning journeys from individual contributors to Vice Presidents.

The position may be in Orange, CT, Binghamton, or Rochester, NY or Augusta, ME with occasional travel to all service area locations.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Partnership: Work closely with the Sr Director of Talent Development and Learning to provide professional expertise in the development and implementation of learning journeys. Partner with business leaders to identify and assess skill gaps, discuss succession pool needs, and create impactful development plans for identified talent.

Needs Analysis: Develop an in-depth understanding of the development needs of Avangrid employees. Collaborate with business leaders and People Organization Business Partners to ensure business alignment, buy-in, and support. Ensure offerings adhere to the 70-20-10 model, with a focus on the 10% (formal classroom learning).

Program Quality and Measurement: Responsible for the overall quality and effectiveness of the Learning programs to maintain Net Promoter Scores (NPS) in the best-in-class range (over 65) for all local programs and develop impact evaluations to understand ROI associated to learning offerings.

Learning Strategy Development and Execution: Based on business needs and industry trends, develop, or enhance existing learning journeys based on role in company. This can be accomplished through internal facilitation and or vendor services through framework agreements. Management of framework agreements and purchasing requirements for services.

Onboarding and Mobility: Collaborate with onboarding and global mobility to ensure a seamless new hire experience through the Leadership Essentials Program and other initiatives.

Global Collaboration: Maintain relationships with other Iberdrola companies to leverage best practices and programs as appropriate to Avangrid. Support Sr Director with global program development.

Learning Consultancy: Serve as a learning consultant to employees and departments interested in developing learning materials, activities, and development experiences. Evaluate the overall effectiveness of programs.

Industry Trends: Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and innovations in adult learning theory, individual contributor development, management and leadership development, and development technologies. This includes integrating emotional intelligence, AI, and personalized learning experiences.

Academic Partnerships: Assist the Sr Director of Talent Development and Learning on academic partnership initiatives to solve the talent pipeline gap and identify opportunities for reskilling before the skill becomes a need.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Required Education:

BS/BA Degree is preferred with +5 years relevant experience; or equivalency of experience accepted.

Required Experience/Training:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Experience as a people leader.
  • Experience in adult learning
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with a collaborative work style.
  • Proactive project management.
  • Must be able to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent active listening and facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrate extremely strong analytical skills, as well as personal organizational skills.

Preferred Experience:
  • Knowledge of Workday talent module.
  • Experience working in a global organization balancing collaboration and coordination between global and local initiatives, best practices, and recommendations.
  • Experience leading a team in a corporate environment.
  • Ability to speak Spanish is highly desired.

Avangrid employees may be assigned a system emergency role and, in the event of a system emergency, may be required to work outside of their regular schedule/job duties.
