As an Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit Manager, you will ensure care and staff related outcomes are met in this unit. This role is responsible for developing policies and processes related to care in partnership with the leadership team and ensure compliance with internal and external policies, regulations, and accreditations for area of supervision.

About the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit:

  • This intensive rehabilitation program is designed for infants, children and young adults to regain daily living skills, strength, and independence after surgery, injury or accident.

  • Our areas of rehabilitation expertise include: pediatric brain injury, multi-trauma, spinal cord injury, burn and wound, orthopedic, and post-NICU care.

  • We provide access to cutting-edge rehabilitation technology found in few other places in the country.

  • As ChildServe's medical director and the only board-certified pediatric physiatrist in Iowa, Dr. Fred Klingbeil oversees treatment beginning while children are in the hospital and continuing throughout their time at ChildServe. Children who receive inpatient care can transition to ChildServe's outpatient program when they're ready to move home. This continuum of care results in more cohesive care for families and improved outcomes for children.

    What You'll Do:

  • Partner with the leadership team regarding admissions, care, and discharges.

  • Ensure the development, revision and implementation of each child’s care plan and achieve the goals and outcomes established by the care team, child and family.

  • Assure child specific compressive assessments are completed and transmitted per regulations.

  • Manage occupancy / service units to meet goals. Assist with development of unit budget and ensure proper spending.

  • Prepare unit Annual Operating Plan and lead implementation of initiatives.

  • Oversee effective reporting for business, care, and team processes and data.

  • Develop care policies and practices that align with care expectations.

  • Ensure clinical care is implemented according to best practices as defined by ChildServe policy and practice manuals, including but not limited to infection control and safety.

  • Implement and monitor unit-specific quality improvement activities and initiatives.

  • Proactively communicate to stakeholders (staff, families and other internal and external partners to ensure effective information sharing and risk management. Effectively manage and resolve stakeholder concerns.

  • Supervise the team through effective hiring, training, coaching, and performance management. Ensure development of staff to achieve high results. Promote engagement and satisfaction to drive retention. Collaborate with management team to identify opportunities for improvement.

    What You'll Need:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing and licensed to practice as an RN in the State of Iowa; BSN preferred.

  • Five years’ nursing experience in pediatrics, rehabilitation and/or with children with complex medical conditions. PICU and NICU experience required.

  • Two years’ nursing supervisory experience.

  • Specialty nursing certifications preferred (CPN, CBIS, CRRN).

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
