A-State participates in E-Verify.\ \ Position Summary:\ \ The Senior IT Security Analyst is responsible for overseeing the security operations within the IT Security division, focusing on the protection of university assets. This position will work on implementing and maintaining cybersecurity strategies, managing security incidents, and ensuring compliance with university and regulatory standards. This role is governed by state and federal laws and institution policies.\ \ Duties & Responsibilities:\ \

  • Implement and monitor security measures to protect the university\'s networks and data.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments to identify security risks.
  • Manage cybersecurity tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security platforms.
  • Collaborate with the university\'s IT teams to ensure proper security configurations are in place.
  • Assist in the development and enforcement of security policies, procedures, and user awareness programs.
  • Monitor security trends and advise on the necessary updates to the university\'s security infrastructure.
  • Manage security incident management, including documentation, escalation, and resolution of incidents.
  • Assist in investigations into security breaches and prepare reports for university leadership.
  • Coordinate with external security vendors and service providers as necessary.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior security team members, ensuring knowledge transfer and professional growth.
  • Assist with compliance initiatives, ensuring alignment with industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001, HIPAA, FERPA).
  • Other duties as assigned related to university-wide cybersecurity initiatives.

\ \ Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:\ \ Knowledge of cybersecurity principles including risk management, incident response, and network security protocols\ \ Experience with security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), SIEM platforms, endpoint security solutions, and vulnerability scanning tools.\ \ Knowledge of threat intelligence and the ability to perform threat hunting and proactive detection of security incidents.\ \ Ability to stay current with emerging cybersecurity threats and trends, adapting strategies and defenses as necessary.\ \ Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex security concepts for non-technical stakeholders and present findings to leadership.\ \ Good conflict-resolution and problem-solving skills.\ \ Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially in high-pressure security incidents or critical situations.\ \ General Days/Hours:\ \ Monday - Friday\ 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.\ Additional hours as requested and/or needed; Event support as requested.\ Regular and reliable attendance.\ \
