Saint-Gobain Mechanical Engineer in JONESBURG, Missouri

The Role

The Mechanical Engineer encompasses the maintenance and upgrade of the buildings and operational plant equipment. Investigating problems and requirements, developing solutions, writing appropriation requests, specifying equipment, and controlling all phases of installation within the mechanical discipline. Provide a work place free from recognized hazards. Promotes positive employee relations throughout the entire organization. This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager.

  • Provide input into planning and scheduling of projects and preparing capital expenditures.

  • Designing, modeling and drafting specifications using CAD tools

  • Planning, evaluating, organizing, and implementing assigned projects

  • Coordinating with other individuals and departments to assure minimum downtime and maximum safety of employees

  • Develops and maintain standard operating and work instructions

  • Improving the reliability and ease-of-operation of production equipment

  • Track and achieve annual objectives individually and in a team effort

  • Provide technical direction to other plant personnel, supervisors, and operators but does not have regular supervisory responsibility

  • Long term, mid-term and daily planning are a key aspect of the position responsibilities as well as mechanical design aptitude

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering or similar discipline

  • SolidWorks and AutoCAD skills or a working knowledge of another CAD software and the ability to quickly learn SolidWorks and AutoCAD

  • Excellent problem solving capabilities and the ability to work independently on assigned tasks.

  • Strong computer skills, excellent time management, analytical, flexible in adapting to changing situations

  • Flexible and open-minded with excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels in the organization.

  • Knowledge of, or ability to understand, operational excellence principles and tools, such as 5S, SMED, Kaizen, Six Sigma green belt, and TPM is preferred.
