Position Summary

The Manufacturer Intelligence Manager is responsible for supporting strategic interactions with pharmaceutical manufacturers as part of the Trade Strategy team. The Trade Strategy team is responsible for both forward-looking innovation and daily strategic operations of the Trade BU. To achieve its goals, the team will stay ahead of relevant trends in healthcare, forming and defending opinions on where CVS is best positioned to win. The Manufacturer Intelligence Manager supports the Executive Director of Trade Strategy, VP of Trade Strategy and Operations, and the EVP of Pharmaceutical Contracting and Purchasing in the strategic management of manufacturer intelligence to drive value for manufacturer negotiations and other enterprise interactions.

The Manufacturer Intelligence Manager will develop and manage data and insights about our pharmaceutical manufacturer partners, and convert the insights into actionable strategies. They will accomplish this by leveraging internal and external sources and collaborating with leaders across Trade. In addition to supporting regular negotiations and interactions, they will develop expertise on manufacturers by readily responding to priority out-of-cycle requests for manufacturer information. They will be responsible for providing strategic intelligence related to new ventures with manufacturers. They will also be utilizing CRM systems like Salesforce, Teams, MS Office and other tools for managing intelligence such as Tableau and running SQL queries. Lastly and most importantly, the Manufacturer Intelligence Manager will be owning deliverables for executive leadership which will require keen attention to detail and strategic thinking – think PowerPoint presentations for VPs and above.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic partnership: Collaborate cross-functionally and across Trade using information sources both external (e.g., earnings insights, press releases, interviews, etc.) and internal

  2. Pharma intelligence and market research: Improve and maintain repeatable solution for providing manufacturer intelligence to the organization, prioritizing automated, self-serve approach. Monitor triggers (e.g., quarterly earnings, press releases, news reports, roadshows, completion of negotiation cycles) for information updates and own end-to-end responsibility for each kind of update. Gather information from internal and external sources to update manufacturer knowledge. Conduct secondary research (e.g., earnings calls and call transcripts, interviews and press releases) on manufacturers. Ensure cross-functional partners contribute information as aligned

  3. Analytics: Leverage SQL and excel for data analytics and Tableau to generate insights

  4. CRM Product management: Leverage CRM systems and related tools for collecting and sharing intelligence on an enterprise level.

  5. Respond to out-of-cycle requests: Respond to ad hoc leadership requests about manufacturers. Support Trade BU with all needed manufacturer expertise

  6. Analyze manufacturer information (e.g., pipelines, executives, M&A, earnings insights, etc.) and extract key insights to inform Manufacturer specific strategy

  7. Executive presentations: Consolidate intel in the form of high-quality presentations or memos with careful attention to detail

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of total work experienc

• 2+ years of experience in Pharmaceutical or Consulting or related industry which may include but not restricted to competitive intelligence, market research, market access, corporate analysis, etc.

• Demonstrated strategic mindset and an ability to convert information to strategy, despite ambiguity

• Demonstrated customer orientation and an ability to bring together cross-functional partners to respond to customer needs

• Demonstrated success communicating complex issues and relaying information in an effective manner to senior leadership

• Demonstrated success utilizing written and verbal communications skills to product presentations on a consistent basis

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Pharmaceutical or Consulting or related industry which may include but not restricted to competitive intelligence, market research, corporate analysis, market access, etc.

• MBA or equivalent degree

• Demonstrated experience with competitive intelligence in the pharmaceutical sector

• Demonstrated proficiency in creating high quality executive presentations

• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing new products/processes in a cross-functional environment

• Experience with CRM systems

• Demonstrated success via career progression and increasing responsibilities

• Experience with SQL for data analysis/queries for building Tableau dashboards

• Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in SQL, Tableau, Word, Excel and PowerPoint is needed

Education

MBA Preferred; Bachelors required

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$54,300.00 - $159,120.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
