Position Specific Description

NextEra Analytics is currently seeking a well-qualified candidate to join our Field Operations team as a Measurement and Control Engineer Intern. This position will focus on design, implementation, testing, validation, and improvement of NextEra’s hardware solutions to support our SaaS business. You will be instrumental in influencing the product roadmap as we continue to evolve our capability to obtain the best quality data for NextEra and its clients. Success in this role will be driven by a bias for action, willingness to learn, technical expertise, and strong communication skills.

Job Description

Employees in this role will be key contributors to ensuring we are collecting quality data serving many NextEra projects and external clients. Individuals will be encouraged to learn and demonstrate subject matter expertise related to the various measurement devices we use along with developing a strong software support background. This position applies problem solving skills along with effective communication to drive customer issues to resolution.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support engineering design, recommendations, and support for building management system including electrical, HVAC, water, gas, etc. using best practices

  • Provide support and implementation of internally and externally developed systems software and hardware

  • Learn Cybersecurity best practices to mitigate cyber security risk

  • Familiar with hardware design and fabrication best practices

  • Supports testing and design parameters of new equipment as needed prior to approval for field installation

  • Learn how NextEra Analytics supports other subsidiaries under the NextEra enterprise

  • Develop documentation including system architecture, functional design specifications in accordance with project requirements

  • Work with equipment vendors to resolve issues or identify new technologies and products

  • Support sales team with proposals and recommendations to ensure deals benefit our company

  • Help manage multiple projects concurrently and to timely completion

Desired Qualifications

  • Working towards a degree in the Engineering, renewable energy, or a software discipline

  • Basic understanding of electricity measurements

  • Willingness to travel to the field to get onsite experience

  • Passion for helping customers lower their carbon footprint

Job Overview

To be considered for an internship, you must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelor’s degree or higher. You must also have a current cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists department with assigned projects

  • Completes challenging projects and assignments

  • Presents final project to senior leadership at the end of the internship

  • Assumes responsibility for own travel, lodging, and transportation necessary to be available for the program

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High school grad / GED

  • Maintain active enrollment in a Bachelor or higher degree program

  • Maintain cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
