Position Summary: Leads manages all aspects of the Division Strategic Pricing team.

• Responsible for group level collection, analysis and evaluation of data on products, costs, and markets to support development and presentation of appropriate price and bid strategy. Will monitor and optimize pricing strategy through process control and variance analysis.

• Develops product and program negotiation and pricing strategies in cooperation with or as a member of business pursuit team.

• Develops and maintains a high performing Pricing team that challenges the status quo and influences and drives superior business results.

• Coordinates and organizes pricing team efforts in support of pricing proposals that cross a broad range of customers, products, and complexity.

• Supports and encourages the professional development of pricing team members by providing opportunities for formal internal and external training, providing team members with challenging work and mentoring them to be successful in that work.

• Develops and presents as needed monthly metrics that may include material cost recovery, net material margin analysis, win/loss tracking, major contract (new or renewal) opportunities, sell price trends, speed to quote, sales price index, purchased price index, etc. and leverages these metrics to drive superior pricing team performance.

• Collaborates and partners with business pursuit teams in the preparation and/or review of pricing proposals of moderate scope and complexity in response to customer’s request for proposal (RFP).

• Develops, as appropriate, list prices and discounts based on analysis of market climate and competition, product design and life cycle, and division pricing strategy.

• Develops, and furthers the over-arching price strategy, for commercial item pricing (products and services) including the development of support for the data packages. Maintains price reasonableness support for customer submittals.

• Assures work product for entire Pricing team meets compliance requirements for cost and data pricing requirements in accordance with FAR/DFAR requirements. Defends cost data with auditors.

• Develops with Finance the divisional rate structure.

• Maintains product knowledge and regularly monitors industry pricing practices; particularly for major competitors and distributors. Understands current economic conditions and financial implications for division and/or group. Understands value position of products against competition, competing alternatives, and internal product offering.

• Plans, recommends and implements long and short-range pricing studies and strategies. Analyzes policies and procedures which will promote pricing effectiveness to current or potential customers.

• Utilizes continuous improvement principles and techniques to provide the greatest value to customers, employees, and the company.

• Interfaces, as required, directly with the customer to develop and enhance customer relationships and networks and participates in customer negotiations.

• Prepares presentations to management on matters concerning pricing strategy, margin support, and offer/threshold rationale. Presentations shall be fit for each level of leadership, including the Board of Directors.

• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional and trade publications, establishing industry networks, and/or participating in professional associations.

• Shares specialized knowledge with others. Represents Company on specific projects. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Work assignments may include cross-functional or project team responsibilities (e.g. continuous improvement).

Requirements:

•Bachelor’s degree (BA)in Finance, Marketing, Engineering, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience which has provided both theoretical and practical knowledge in the field. MBA highly preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through four or more years of increasingly responsible strategic pricing experience.

• Familiarity with/experience in Parker strategic pricing program preferred.

• This position requires organizational savvy, a team-oriented behavior and the ability to be a strategic business leader.

• Demonstrated aptitude for detailed analytical work.

• Commercial (selling or marketing) experience.

• Experience as an influencer and negotiator with leadership coaching skills.

• Outstanding communication, presentation, planning, influencing, process consultation or facilitation skills.

• Demonstrated capabilities to motivate professionals to maximum levels of personal and team performance.

• The ability to work in a ‘matrixed’ vs. hierarchical reporting environment; coordinating activities in a cross-functional environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Advanced, specialized knowledge of cost estimating and pricing principles, practices and processes.

• Knowledge of applicable laws, and regulations, including Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and/or Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), and knowledge of industry-specific practices, regulations, and policies highly preferred.

• Ability to work on complex problems where in-depth understanding and evaluation of situations or data, frequently require complicated analysis; solve a wide range of unique problems of considerable scope and complexity that may require new approaches or significant modification of standard procedure.

• Ability to effectively assess and implement continuous improvement principles and techniques.

• Proficient in the use of standard business applications software including Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI.

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex policies and recommend changes to procedures.

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

• Ability to effectively present information to top management, customers, and/or boards of directors.

• Ability to effectively assess team member competencies and opportunities leverage competencies to drive team performance and opportunities to encourage team member development.

• Ability to collaborate with Division leaders and individual pricing team members in the development of pricing team goals that support the Parker Win Strategy and contribute to Division success.
