As a Engineer II, Manufacturing Engineer you’ll take charge of consumable product specifications and support key processes involved in batching, bottling, and packaging products for market. You’ll have the opportunity to tackle challenges head-on, optimizing manufacturing methods to boost safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency. By developing innovative solutions, you’ll help streamline production and minimize waste, directly impacting our success in creating high-quality products.Location: Onsite Kalamazoo, MI

What you will be doing:

  • Understand drivers and attack manufacturing waste: MUV (Material Usage Variance), scrap, downtime, manufacturing layout, and inventory location/accuracy issues.

  • ​Attack daily process disruptions such as equipment downtime, material availability and IT system outages – update SOPs and re-train employees on improvement opportunities.

  • Support execution of full change control process including use-as-is and disposition decisions.

  • Ownership of manufacturing SOPs and work instructions including creation and updates for existing and new processes.

  • Lead/support continuous improvement events focused on throughput, waste reduction and material cost savings.

  • Support IQ/OQ/PQ validations (Install Qualification, Operational Qualification, and Performance Qualification) on all existing and new pieces of equipment.

  • Maintain costing standards – setup times, production rate, scrap rates/factors – and participate in annual standard roll.

  • Packaging design/development supporting new products and product rationalization efforts.

  • Support production enhancements and implementation of next generation production lines and capital projects.

  • Support new product development activities ensuring design for manufacturability

  • Create and maintain product family matrix

  • Assist Marketing and Inventory Control with product rationalization efforts through the eyes of manufacturing

Skills you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering required, Masters preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering required.

  • Manufacturing standard costing experience preferred.

  • Experience identifying sources of waste and manufacturing processes to drive down cost.

  • Experience with validation for equipment and processes.

  • Collaborative problem solver capable of working with cross functional teams.

  • Strong knowledge of machine design practices.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.

  • Experience managing projects or programs.

  • Demonstrate strong business acumen, organizational and analytical skills

  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Office, database and internet based programs) Maintenance software

  • (CMMS) a plus.

  • ISO 9001, ISO13485, FDA experience is preferred

  • English language fluency required - including ability to speak, read and write without assistance

  • The ability to lift, push and/or pull up to 50lbs .

  • Able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel and carry

  • Familiarity with safety regulations and standards.

  • Knowledge, training, and/or experience in Lean Manufacturing
