As our HIM Team Lead you will assist with the overall supervision of daily operations in the Health Information Management (HIM) department. The HIM Team Lead will assist with executing R1 Middle Revenue Cycle initiatives at our client sites. Every day you will ensure department performance is consistent with productivity, quality, and compliance expectations. The HIM Team Lead will oversee and assist with assigned duties associated with medical records processes and procedures for retrieval, preparation, scanning, indexing and quality review of paper documents. To thrive in this role, you will need to be detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about handling sensitive information. You’ll use your prior experience with navigating multiple systems to collect patient information and enter it into multiple computer systems. You’ll use your excellent communication and interpersonal skills to answer questions from patients as well as physicians and their staff. The HIM Team lead must have intermediate skill level in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. The HIM Team Lead needs to have demonstrated the ability to work well independently and in teams, have the ability to prioritize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while demonstrating good decision-making abilities.

Please be advised, this is a full-time position. The HIM Team Lead will work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The HIM Team Lead will work onsite at Ascension Borgess Medical Center, 1521 Gull Rd Kalamazoo, MI 49048. The HIM Team Lead must be up to date on all vaccines (including but not limited to annual flu shot). We can help you with your vaccines at no cost to you. Here is what you will experience working as an HIM Team Lead:

• Maintaining and monitoring HIM controls and computer systems/environment for the assigned area of the department

• Scheduling daily assignments and evaluating performance of associates

• Submitting and monitoring quality and quantity of work for assigned areas, performing supervisory functions and providing ongoing training as needed

• Interpreting policies and procedures for associates to ensure quality and compliance

• Providing direction and support to client leaders to implement Best Practices within the middle of Revenue Cycle

• Providing detailed analysis and reports to client and R1 Leaders

• All other duties as assigned

• Chart retrieval from all patient care areas

• Chart check-in, reconciliation, and follow-up of missing documentation

• Prepping, scanning, indexing, and quality control validation of all medical records

• Performing data entry functions by hand-keying electronic information into various data systems to maintain updated information for future use and analysis

• Updating spreadsheets and data systems with updated content to maintain accurate information

• Exemplifying caring and compassionate customer service to create an excellent patient experience

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED

For this US-based position, the base pay range is $16.88 - $24.79 per hour . Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
