Logan Health Nutrition Services Technician (Full Time 32hr/wk) in Kalispell, Montana

Job Description Summary:

Responsible for preparing, working with, and delivering food according to the nutritional needs of the patients, residents, and personnel of Logan Health Systems. Practice a high level of quality, sanitation, and safety.

Qualifications:

Core Qualifications – All Levels

  • ServeSafe Certification or Food Handler Certification preferred.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions & established procedures. Ability to communicate, both verbal and written, required.

  • Competency with nutrition care, including knowledge and preparation of therapeutic diets must be obtained within six (6) months of hire.

  • Understanding of HACCP guidelines, state and regulatory standards.

  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in healthcare or food service setting for entry level position preferred.

  • High degree of customer service.

  • Computer skills to include MS Office, time keeping, and point-of-sales software preferred.

  • Ability to manage time, organize priorities, and deal with time constraints. Substantiate outstanding values and the ability to participate at a high level of teamwork.

Host I Qualifications

  • Meets Core Qualifications for all levels.

  • CPFM Certification preferred or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.

  • Must complete net learning minimum competency Training within first 30 days in:

  • Customer Service.

  • Trayline patient service delivery scripting module.

  • Therapeutic diet training.

  • National dysphagia diet training.

  • Trained and competent in Hospital Menus and order entry system in Horizon.

  • Information Security.

Host II Qualifications

  • Meet Host I qualifications.

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a customer service or professional kitchen or one (1) year experience as a Trayline Aide required. Minimum of six (6) months training in Patient Services with KRHS preferred.

  • Pass Comprehensive training in modified texture including NDD1, NDD2, and NDD3 diets.

  • Pass Comprehensive Training in Carbohydrate Counting diets

  • Pass Comprehensive Training in therapeutic diets including AHA and Renal diets

  • Pass Comprehensive training in Food Allergies and intolerances.

  • Pass comprehensive menu exam with 95% score.

  • Participate and demonstrate Rise & Shine Training.

  • Achieve 70% average of daily meal orders for assigned patients.

  • Participates in the daily huddle with contribution of safety stories and exemplary customer service.

  • Maintains CPFM.

Host III Qualifications

  • Meet all Host II qualifications.

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in patient customer service in a full service cafeteria program.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of KRHS experience, or documented skill with serving patient meals.

  • Demonstrates competence in all patient meal service areas of KRHS.

  • Demonstrates ability to train and mentor Host I and II employees in all areas.

Job Duties:

Core Duties – All Levels

  • *Visits patients and obtains meal selections for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

  • *Suggest appropriate options for patients prescribed a modified diet.

  • *Provides excellent, compassionate service to each and every person every time with integrity.

  • *Produces and delivers meal trays per each meal order and anticipates patients’ needs and offers appropriate accompaniments.

  • *Ability to work with Nursing to communicate patient needs when outside scope of practice.

  • *Completes daily, weekly and monthly sanitation tasks as assigned.

  • *Follows all policies to ensure patient safety including:

  • Infection control practice

  • Food safety practice

  • HIPPA policy, patient privacy

  • Information systems security.

Host I

  • All core duties.

Host II

  • *All Core duties.

  • *Round on Nursing.

  • *Communicates with Nursing to develop individualized care with each assigned patient.

  • *Ensures all daily, weekly and monthly sanitation check lists are completed.

Host III

  • *All Core duties.

  • *Mentors and trains Host I and II employees in all areas.

  • *Performs test tray audits.

  • *Maintains 75% daily average of assigned patient meal orders.

Work Environment:

Area is well lit and ventilated. Exposed to variable heat changes, odors, and/or patient care areas. May be exposed to infectious diseases.

Schedule Details:

Please know schedules and shifts are subject to change based on patient care and department/organizational needs.

Schedule:

Variable shifts including weekend and holidays. On Call Coverage required.
