Logan Health Systems Engineer in Kalispell, Montana

Job Description Summary:

This position will be responsible for trouble shooting escalated day-to-day operational problems to the Systems team including prioritization and escalation of tickets as necessary. Responsible for maintaining existing servers and supporting infrastructure while performing daily operations such as; monitoring data center hardware for failures, performing hardware replacements, monitoring daily backups for success, tape rotation, and restores. Duties will include the active maintenance and problem resolution for the following; compute storage, virtualization, active directory, exchange, BC/DR, and compliance/security.

Qualifications:

  • A+, N+ or MCP certification required.

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience with enterprise class networked systems consisting of mid-range LAN of at least 1500 users required.

  • MCSA certification preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to make technical decisions, which impact projects within the scope of authority.

  • Possess ability to work in a team environment and work toward common goals with consideration of an Enterprise Systems Infrastructure.

  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.

  • Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.

Job Specific Duties:

  • Consistently follows through on issues and timely escalation as needed. Supports the corporate philosophy, mission, and vision through customer/staff interactions.

  • Exhibits understanding of the systems infrastructure such as; storage and compute, core software systems MS Active Directory, Outlook, remote access, and printing. Assists in the development of procedures, workflow, troubleshooting, build sheets, and testing. Executes testing in an integrated environment while incorporating quality management concepts.

  • Exhibits exemplary written and verbal communication skills. Effectively communicates to implement, problem solve, and improve services to end-users while maintaining Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

  • Works independently, yet maintains organizational and team goals. Understands key objectives, identifies problems, probable causes, impact on operations, and reports to the appropriate parties. Assists with solutions, decides on optimal course of action and applies appropriate critical decision-making and prioritization skills. Assumes full ownership of all outcomes start to finish and collaboratively brings problems to a complete resolution.

  • Performs Systems operational tasks to include, but may not be limited to; daily and monthly operational procedures, monitoring of systems, reviewing of alerts and equipment walkthroughs including remediating actions. Assists with backup and restores. Understands the strict adherence to established process and procedures. Strives to keep all documentation updated and orderly. Maintains operational checks and logging while coordinating other duties of support queue monitoring and task or project assignments.

  • Provides support, issues tracking and resolution by monitoring support ticket system and adhering to SLAs. Coordinates with HIT department and provides Tier 1 support phone and ticket coverage for the Systems Engineering team. Appropriately monitors, prioritizes, escalates the ticket queue and updates tickets with vendors or within HIT department.

  • Exhibits project and implementation skills, including understanding of and participation in planning, design, build, testing, training, and cutover and go-live activities. Exhibits knowledge of work plans and managing tasks and timelines. Provides concise updates and escalations.

  • Pursues opportunities for self-development. Stays current with industry trends and informed of current technology. Researches and provides solutions consistent with enterprise design. Maintains HIT security objectives, assists in identifying potential exploits. Researches and stays current on industry security practices, trends, and events.

  • Coordinates with other HIT teams and HR for building Active Directory Groups, OUs and roles as related to business departments and permissions.

  • Maintains server security integrity by correctly configuring and maintaining; servers, shares, permissions, and roles for hardware/software.

  • Assists in project transition from the systems team to other HIT and applicable area(s).

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
