Compensation Range

Hourly: $33.66 - $33.66 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.)

About This Job

As an IT Associate Developer, you will embark on an 18-month rotational program that allows you to experience a variety of tools, technologies, and critical processes that will expand your talents. The IT Department is a huge driver in Commerce Bank’s success. We are the innovative and creative problem solvers who support applications, maintain a secure network, and implement initiatives that aid the business units. The banking industry is evolving every day, giving us the ability to learn about recent technologies and grow to meet the needs of the bank. What you’ll get:

  • Onboarding experience within the first three months with other Associate Developers

  • Five-month rotations through multiple IT departments for hands on experience

  • Guidance from mentors who provide technical direction, development experience, and give you broad exposure

  • Participate on key projects that contribute to the daily success of Commerce Bank

  • Opportunity for promotion upon successful graduation of the program

Essential Functions

  • Work as part of a development team in the design of software applications

  • Conduct requirements gathering, document technical specifications, and write, review, and debug code

  • Recommend product revisions or enhancements based on feedback

  • Develop and maintain documentation or user manuals

  • Partner with peers and mentors to complete projects and duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Basic understanding of Software Development Life Cycle methodologies

  • General understanding of relational database concepts and writing SQL

  • General understanding of principles in one or more programming language such as Java or C#

  • Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Inquisitive, agile and strong team player with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values

  • Basic level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required

  • 4+ years of programming experience could substitute for a bachelor’s degree

  • Previous development experience in work or collegiate setting required
