Actalent Lab Technician in Kansas City, Missouri

Laboratory Technician - Paying up to $20/hr.

Location: Kansas City, MO, 64120

Job Type: Full-Time

Shift: Various shifts including weekends and holidays

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to independently perform routine analytical testing to support our Formulation production plants. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and analyzing samples using a variety of physical analytical techniques and sophisticated analytical equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently perform routine analytical testing to support Formulation production plants.

  • Prepare and analyze samples using pH meters, viscometers, rheometers, auto-titrators, and laser particle size analyzers.

  • Operate and understand STARLiMS Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and other instrument-specific software systems.

  • Search various databases for test methods and specifications to complete analyses.

  • Promptly and accurately record, calculate, and report analytical results.

  • Maintain appropriate records to meet internal requirements as well as ISO 9001, 14001, and 18001 standards.

  • Observe good safety and housekeeping practices.

  • Maintain and clean laboratory supplies, prepare solutions, and dispose of solid/liquid waste.

  • Follow oral and written instructions.

  • Understand and comply with RCRA hazardous waste regulations, including waste determinations, waste codes, and communication of spills and leaks. Ensure proper labeling, inspection, and recordkeeping for waste accumulation areas.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma with coursework in chemistry and algebra, plus some work experience; or 10-20 hours of college chemistry and college algebra with no laboratory experience; or a BS degree in a science discipline with no laboratory experience.

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • High attention to detail.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload to optimize efficiency and productivity.

  • Cooperative attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Good computer skills, including proficiency in Excel and Word.

Training:

  • Initial RCRA hazardous waste training to be completed within 1 month of starting the job.
