Honeywell Lead Chemical Engineer Rubber and Plastics in Kansas City, Missouri

Summary

Acts as authority in the field of Chemical Engineering. Plans, conducts, and coordinates a broad range of complex professional research, development, design, technology, manufacturing, or quality assignments requiring extensive knowledge of advanced techniques and principles and their application to specific projects. Works under administrative direction only with considerable latitude for unreviewed actions or decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • May influence strategic planning for, and plans for major technical projects or more than one project of major scope and complexity that significantly impact the business.

  • Significant external leadership and recognition including extensive customer interface.

  • Advises and consults as technical expert to other technical and administrative personnel to drive and implement short and long-term projects.

  • Estimates manpower requirements and schedules work to meet completion dates and technical requirements.

  • Prepares comprehensive proposals and cost estimates, evaluates progress and results, and recommends and directs the implementation of major revisions in approaches and objectives; may set, modify and/or negotiate schedule changes and dates.

  • Leads, directs, influences or coordinates the work of a major project, program, product or component for a section or department of functional division with responsibility for project objectives, completion dates, and technical specifications.

  • Is a mentor to experienced and early in career engineers to provide product and system guidance and help develop skills and knowledge base.

  • Produces substantial growth based on technical advances and innovation and/or improvement in existing technologies. Recommends and directs the implementation of major revisions in approaches and objectives.

  • Negotiates complex states of work, schedules, budgets, and anticipates and resolves issues regarding customer relationships.

  • Champions initiatives to resolve critical processes and technological-related issues.

  • Stays current with relevant emerging technology and business trends. Uses business knowledge to evaluate and prioritize business opportunities based on economic and technical factors.

You Must Have

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program or bachelors of science degree in Physics from and accredited program.

  • Seven or more years of relevant experience in engineering, analytical, or related technical activities.

  • Ability to travel as determined by the needs of the business.

  • Ability to work remote, hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business.

  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.

  • United States Citizenship

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations).
