Burns & McDonnell Offering Manager - Renewable Consulting - 1898 & Co. in Kansas City, Missouri

The Power Generation Consulting department is seeking individuals interested in leading, selling, and enhancing the offering capabilities of the renewable services within our Energy & Utilities Consulting Practice. As an Offering Manager, you would be responsible for establishing the sales and marketing strategy and execution for our service offerings and client engagements. You will establish, communicate, and maintain accountability for the go-to-market strategy based on industry trends to position 1898 & Co. to successfully secure and execute client engagements for the renewables group. The Power Generation Consulting department is looking for individuals for all areas of renewable energy including, but not limited to, wind, solar, and storage.

The Offering Manager is responsible for the successful sale and execution of business offerings and engagements within the 1898 & Co. consulting services unit of Burns & McDonnell. The Offering Manager will sell, manage, and provide expertise to the renewables team in the day-to-day management of project quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, subcontracts, proposals, estimates and client relations. This role will also be responsible for developing high-performing teams, coordinating training, resource management, supporting quality reviews, and promoting the 1898 & Co. and Burns & McDonnell culture, values, and mission.

  • Provide leadership to the team; direct and coordinate work assignments and review performance to ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff.

  • Define the service strategy that delivers value in the market, grows services delivered, and increases market awareness of the service and 1898 & Co. Current focus is on utilities with future growth into other industries. Presents and positions service offerings internally and externally.

  • Manage a pipeline of opportunities and works with business development and sales functions.

  • Manage profitable growth of the offering; including ensuring staff levels, staff loading, and staff assignments meet project requirements while maintaining billable goals.

  • Implement, apply, and support company, global practice and/or regional office programs and initiatives; successfully navigating and managing change within the section.

  • Provide expert level technical guidance and support.

  • Achieve stated targets and standards for financial performance.

  • Pursue, obtain, and maintain industry recognized Professional certifications as necessary.

  • Manage and assign workload for the team and communicate status of workload, billable time, and needs for additional workload or staffing needs to managing directors and business line leads, or regional management and applicable project managers.

  • Manage service offering strategy, build, and maintain a roadmap to continuously iterative updates to meet market requirements.

  • Create detailed offering business plans, including pricing, positioning, and go-to-market strategies.

  • Continuously monitor the performance of offerings and identify areas for improvement.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including service/product development, marketing, and sales, to define and develop new offerings.

  • Evaluate external partnership, marketing, sales, and licensing opportunities to expand business offerings.

  • Responsible for collaborating with business development managers, managing directors, business line leads, project managers, and proposal production staff on proposals to secure work for staff.

  • Responsible for the recruitment, development, training, and retention of staff.

  • Responsible for conducting performance evaluations for department staff.

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the department.

  • Responsible for interpreting the organization's policies, purposes, and goals to staff.

  • Responsible for overall QA/QC process adherence.

  • Enforce compliance with company and site safety policies.

  • Responsible for diversity initiatives.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Complies with all policies and standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field from an accredited program and 7 years of relevant experience required or

  • Applicable years of experience may be substituted for degree requirement required

  • Excellent business acumen with proven success managing consulting engagements.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly and efficiently interpret large data sets.

  • Ability to uncover customer needs, develop recommendations and deliver them persuasively.

  • Expert facilitation, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong understanding of financial concepts.

  • Excellent planning and analytical skills

  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
