Material Technician I, II, and III: Performs advanced material tests and manufacturing process inspections in laboratories, plants and/or at points of supply. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.Essential Duties:Material Technician I, II and III:Advises supervisor of inspection activities and problems at plants and assists in coordinating inspectionHandles material or production problems referred by less experienced inspectorsInforms plant personnel of material or production problems, rejects substandard material and assists in determining cause for material problemsMaintains a diary of inspection or test detailsPerforms tests and inspection dutiesRecords test data on worksheets and performs calculations to convert raw data into specific units of measurementReports test results to field construction personnel and may assist in determining cause for material problemsMaterial Technician II and III:Handles problem calls from producers, suppliers, inspectors and construction project field personnelInterprets plans and specifications and negotiates with producers and suppliers to resolve differencesMaterial Technician III:Coordinates test and inspection results with engineers, inspectors, material producers and suppliers and field construction personnel and may assist in determining cause for material problems.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned
