QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors Degree in Human Resource Management, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or a related field is required. However, a minimum of five (5) years Human Resource Management or related experience may be substituted for educational requirements. Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills, demonstrate an ability to work well with others and organize teams and knowledge of employment and labor laws. Experience in developing and implementing personnel policies is preferred. A minimum of two (2) years working experience with tribes and/or self-governance tribes is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for the maintenance and operation of the tribal self-governance personnel department and personnel records.

2. Conducts research regarding personnel policies and procedures of the Kaw Nation, other tribes, and other units of government as required by the project.

3. Negotiate rates with insurance providers annually with KDI and Kaw Housing. Conduct and/or coordinate Open Enrollment Meetings for all employees.

4. Works with webmaster regarding all updates to the Kaw Nation website.

5. Conduct data collection, analysis, and reporting.

6. Complete federal reporting requirements for all Kaw Nation entities.

7. Coordinate the hiring schedule, schedule meetings, make assignments, etc

8. Assist Program Directors/Coordinators and Supervisors in identifying and providing training programs to meet training needs in order to facilitate transfer of programs resulting from Self-Governance.

9. Conduct and/or coordinate New Hire Orientation.

10. Conducts investigations and writes corrective action letters.

11. Oversee and review all monthly insurance invoices and ensure timely submission to AP for payment.

12. Develop and submit all recommendations for change to the Kaw Nation Policies and Procedures.

13. Develop and present other reports/recommendations as required to the Tribal and General Councils.

14. Insure strict confidentiality of all personnel records.

15. Ensure timely performance reviews for all employees.

16. Reviews/approves submission of bi-weekly timesheets from directors/coordinators for accuracy and forwards to the Accounting Department.

17. Complete any other duties as assigned by the immediate/controlling supervisor.
