Expected salary range of $164,700 to $183,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
The primary purpose of the Principal Cyber Data Analytics Engineer position is to lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced data analytics solutions to enhance cybersecurity efforts. This role bridges the gap between data engineering, analytics, and cybersecurity, ensuring the organization can effectively use data to detect, prevent, and respond to cyber threats. The Principal Cyber Data Analytics Engineer operates at the intersection of cybersecurity, data science, and enterprise strategy. This role involves a broad scope of influence and responsibility, including designing advanced data-driven solutions, ensuring effective threat management, and contributing to the organization's overall cybersecurity posture. The position demands technical excellence, leadership, and strategic vision to mitigate cyber risks effectively and empower data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role is critical to modernizing and strengthening the organization's cybersecurity defenses using data analytics. This role impacts not only immediate security measures but also long-term strategies, fostering resilience against evolving threats and aligning cybersecurity initiatives with broader business objectives.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Utilize analytical, statistical, and programming skills to collect, analyze, and interpret large cybersecurity data sets.
Build advanced analytics models (e.g., machine learning) for detecting anomalies and identifying potential threats.
Help build and execute an annual roadmap and implementation plan for SIEM adoption and continued maturity.
Ensure seamless integration of analytics tools with existing cybersecurity platforms (e.g., SIEM systems).
Stay updated on the latest developments in AI, machine learning, and data science as they apply to cybersecurity.
Guide cross-functional teams in data engineering, analytics, and security to implement robust solutions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
5 to 8 years of solid, diverse experience in cybersecurity-driven data science or engineering role.
Ability to demonstrate analytical skills, technical knowledge, and practical application of cyber and information security principles to business leaders and technical staff.
Proven track record of designing and implementing analytics-driven cybersecurity solutions.
Hands-on experience with SIEM tools, threat intelligence platforms, and advanced analytics systems.
Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles, such as threat modeling, incident response, and vulnerability management.
Experience supporting projects, planning, maintenance and operations.
Experience driving the adoption of data analytics and artificial intelligence in cybersecurity operations.
Experience with machine learning and AI applications in cybersecurity.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their security features.
Knowledge of data pipelines and ETL processes for cybersecurity data.
Ability to analyze large, complex datasets to uncover actionable insights.
Strong troubleshooting skills, especially in identifying and mitigating cyber risks.
Capability to present findings to stakeholders in a clear, concise manner.
Proven ability to mentor team members, lead projects, and influence organizational strategies.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree or higher in Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical discipline.
Experience with security content-driven products and services.
Familiarity with ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, Cribl, and Splunk.
Demonstrated knowledge of cyber defense policies, procedures, and regulations.
Splunk certified administrator.
Knowledge of NERC CIP based systems and compliance based technical architecture
