The Boeing Company is looking for a Software Engineer Developer (Associate or Experienced) to join our P8 Mission Systems Sensors, Comms and Datalink software team located in Kent, WA . This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

This P-8 Team develops subsystems in the P8 Tactical Open Mission System (TOMS). The selected applicant will be a member of a high performing, collaborative team, and must be a self-starter who has background in network engineering and is ready to acquire a deep technical understanding of the P-8 framework and architecture. Knowledge of Fortigate configuration and network security is desired and preferred.

Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 10%.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Designs, develops, tests, and maintains non-embedded software throughout the end-to-end lifecycle that meets industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards

  • Reviews, analyzes, and translates customer requirements into initial design of software products

  • Develops, maintains, enhances and optimizes software products and functionalities for systems integrations

  • Develops, documents and maintains architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software products

  • Debugs and resolves issues identified to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products

  • Handles user inquiries, troubleshoots technical issues and user feedback analysis

  • Implements current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks and changes in regulations relevant to software development

  • Develops, establishes, monitors and improves software processes, tools and key performance metrics that align projects with organizational goals and industry benchmarks

  • Plans, executes and documents software research and development projects

  • Advises on software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations

  • Performs software project management activities and software supplier management functions

  • Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process compliance to project plans and industry standards

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 2 or more years' of experience in the Software Development lifecycle (including Requirements Analysis, Design, Code, Integration & Test)

  • Experience with Network design, administration and troubleshooting, Routers/Firewalls/NAT/DNS

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 3 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification

  • CompTIA A+, Network + and/or Security + certification

Typical Education/Experience:

Associate Level:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Experienced Level:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range for associate level: $92,650.00 - $125,350.00

Summary pay range for experienced level: $114,750.00 - $155,250.00
