Hope Network West Michigan Math Tutor - AmeriCorps - Kentwood in Kentwood, Michigan

As an MEC Math Corps Interventionist you'll help kids develop basic math and problem-solving skills using evidence-based, scripted interventions. As an interventionist, you'll help struggling students in 4-8 improve their skills and get on track with math. No experience? No problem. With great training and onsite coaching, we'll prepare you to work with pairs of students to build fundamental math skills and confidence. Schedule: Monday -- Friday, 37.5 hours per week. 7.5 service hours per day. Requires 5 days per week. Position starts 8/31/2024 and ends 5/31/2025 (part time positions also available).

Compensation/Benefits: living stipend of $1,243.55 biweekly (totaling $2,487.10 per month), education award of up to $5,176.50 that can be used to repay federal student loans or future education expenses; federal student loan forbearance. Health insurance and childcare assistance is available for full-time interventionists. Interventionists may elect to complete their Michigan Youth Development Associate (Mi-YDA) credential. Michigan Education Corps AmeriCorps members also have access to the Member Support Fund (up to $500 for emergency /unexpected expenses), affinity groups and workforce development/career pathway groups.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older by your start date.
  • Must have at least a high school diploma or recognized equivalent by your start date.
  • Must be either a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States.
  • Must pass mandatory pre-service background checks.
  • Must not have served 4 or more prior terms of service with AmeriCorps State or National.
