Position Description Summary

§ Supports the sub assembly material planning process and provide daily support to production and management in regard to materials.

§ Responsible in ensuring the availability of materials in order to avoid production downtime or shortages. Supports with managing inventory levels through tactical and transactional tasks to ensure production scheduling needs are met.

Essential Job Functions

§ Ensure part availability to promote the flow of material and product.

§ Build and maintain relationships with Kanban/sequenced suppliers in regard to material replenishment and on-time delivery.

§ Monitor inventory levels to ensure production scheduling needs are met and communicate potential risks to appropriate individuals.

§ Support Grand Rapids production as the internal customer to ensure the needs of the external customer are met.

§ Participate in Operational Excellence activities (RIE’s, BPS, MDI, Gemba).

§ Engage in supporting activities involving lean manufacturing, supplier management, 5S, and other Company initiatives.

§ Ensure optimal inventory levels and safety stock are maintained for their parts.

Maintain proactive shortage identification and management - help flag root causes & corrective actions.

§ Expedite deliveries to meet and exceed scheduled critical requirements.

§ Coordinate with production planners for solutions when parts cannot be delivered as promised.

§ Works to consistently meet and exceed customer requirements

§ Continuously strives for operational excellence and continuous improvement

Education, Experience & Skills

§ High School Diploma required. Associates degree from an accredited college/ university preferred. (3+) years minimum directly related manufacturing experience.

§ Experience with moving materials (pallet jacks, pivs, Hilo’s) in a manufacturing environment.

§ Computer proficient with basic inventory and or ERP systems.

§ Basic mathematical skills.

Physical Requirements

§ Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of internal company and external associates, both written and orally, including the telephone.

§ Ability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently, and 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
