Naval Sea Systems Command ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL) in Keyport, Washington

Salary: GS-5: $44,316 - $57,607 GS-6: $49,400 - $64,222 GS-7: $54,896 - $71,366 GS-8: $60,794 - $79,030 GS-9: $67,147 - $87,291 Responsibilities You will assist higher-level technicians in phases of handling, assembly, test and troubleshooting, and repair of complex Electromechanical torpedo systems assemblies. You will perform fault isolation from the system level down to the component level. You will participate in walkthroughs of procedures and processes to ensure accuracy and identify areas for improvement and efficiency. You will provide safe stowage and handling of ordnance components and material per designated requirements. You will assist higher-level technicians in order to learn how to conduct phases of technical work as part of a major project or a complete project. You will participate in design studies on the feasibility, suitability, adaptability, and operational utility of systems and system concepts. You will provide test and evaluation support and coordination for a specific technical area. You will develop, define and/or apply improved techniques and methods to the solution of problems associates with a project of program. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications For GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Analyzing acceptability of products that affect the design or operation of systems, programs, processes, or equipment at a field or work site. For GS-08: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Analyzing issues involved in assignment to adjust from standard work methods based on situations and conditions at a field or work site. For GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Planning assignments in conformance with accepted policies and practices and selecting appropriate instructions, policies, guidelines, or accepted practices to perform work. For GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying technical engineering principles to perform basic functions on assembly, test, troubleshoot, and repair on electro-mechanical systems and components. For GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying technical engineering principles to assist with engineering technician services during the design, construction, testing or overhaul of systems or components. Education The following education may be substituted for specialized experience at the GS-09: Master's (or equivalent graduate degree such as LL.B. or J.D. as specified in qualification standards or individual occupational requirements) in a course of study that directly reflects the job-related KSAs/competencies necessary to satisfy the minimum qualifications and perform the duties of the position, OR 2 academic years of progressively higher-level graduate education in a course of study that directly reflects the job-related KSAs/competencies necessary to satisfy the minimum qualifications and perform the duties of the position. The following education may be substituted for specialized experience at the GS-07: 1 academic year of graduate education (or law school, as specified in qualification standards or individual occupational requirements) in a course of study that directly reflects the job-related KSAs/competencies necessary to satisfy the minimum qualifications and perform the duties of the position. The following education may be substituted for specialized experience at the GS-05: 4 academic years above high school leading to a bachelor's degree OR Bachelor's degree in a course of study that directly reflects the job-related KSAs/competencies necessary to satisfy the minimum qualifications and perform the duties of the position.
