Summary of Position
The Bookstore Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising bookstore operations. Manage activities to include textbook and materials purchasing, shipping and receiving, merchandising, inventory control, and prepare and maintain departmental budget.
Minimum Required Education
High School diploma with an Associate’s Degree from a nationally, regionally or identified at the state level accredited institution of higher education preferred.
Minimum Required Experience
Five years’ experience as a College Bookstore Manager or six years’ experience as an assistance college Bookstore manager. All bookstore experience must be within the last 10 years.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in textbook rental and sale of eTextbooks and digital course materials.
Ability to manage inventory dollars effectively and efficiently.
Demonstrated knowledge of trends in bookstore operations including sales of softgoods, ancillary goods and computers and tablets, etc.
Ability to develop and manage budgets; efficient with running reports.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office systems.
Ability to interact effectively with faculty, college staff, students, and general public.
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
Ability to interpret and follow policy and procedures of the institution and apply them accordingly.
Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion.
Demonstrated supervisory skills.
Salary 1H/Per Salaried Pay Scale
Hours Full-time, indicate working hours - 7:30-5:30pm M-Thu 7:30-11:30 Friday, Overtime, describe requirements - as needed
