GPI is seeking Civil/Structural/Highway/Water Resources interns for offices in Bridgewater, NJ; Morris Plains, NJ; Absecon, NJ; Shelton, CT; Philadelphia; or King of Prussia, PA. Interns will perform field investigations, analysis, 3D design, drafting, plan development, report writing, contractor submittal review, and construction phase site visits.

Interns will work with experienced project teams toward completing interesting projects related to civil, bridge, highway, and water resource engineering. The preferred candidate should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and some MicroStation and/or AutoCAD knowledge.

An individualized internship program with the opportunity to explore multiple engineering disciplines, including potential opportunities with other local GPI offices in construction engineering, inspection, and management. Each intern will be assigned a mentor and involved in various training sessions, field visits, employee engagement activities, and work on various projects.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Performing engineering analysis and design.
  • Preparing cohesive and organized engineering calculations.
  • Detailing and drafting using 3D CADD Software.
  • Assist with geometric layout and quantity development.
  • Developing task deliverables for review by a Senior Engineer.
  • Performing tasks according to the assigned schedule and budget.
  • Working independently under the guidance of a Senior Engineer.
  • Participate in field inspections of future project locations and active construction sites.
  • Assist with report writing.

Qualifications:

 

 

  • Must be a student pursuing a degree in engineering.
  • Good communica or, energetic, and able to work in the office to obtain the full experience of working alongside our engineering staff.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

 

  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
