Software Development Engineer in Test

What does a successful Software Test Engineer do at Fiserv?

Are you passionate about ensuring top-notch software quality? Join our dynamic team at Fiserv as a Software Test Engineer (STE), where you’ll play a key role in our technology mission by designing and automating tests that push our applications to the limit. Collaborate with a dedicated team to ensure our systems perform flawlessly before they reach our users, making a real impact on our business and technology goals.

What you will do:

  • You’ll dive into project requirements, ensuring everything is complete and testable within the given scope and timeline.

  • We’ll rely on you to develop, implement, and execute tests that align with project schedules, making sure we catch any issues early to meet our quality goals.

  • Your expertise in automation will shine as you create and integrate valuable automated tests into our software’s build and deployment processes.

  • You’ll keep us all in the loop by communicating testing progress, results, and key insights to your peers, leaders, and product development teams.

  • We’ll count on you to update and maintain testing documentation, adapting to product improvements and evolving test approaches over time.

  • You’ll collaborate with our tech teams, advising on best practices for testing tools, strategies, and techniques to ensure quality is built into every step of the product life cycle.

  • Your deep understanding of our Payment Card processing and merchant onboarding processes will guide you in ensuring our applications meet all business logic requirements.

What you will need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and military background.

  • 5+ years of experience testing web applications integrated with SQL/noSQL databases, Java-based application servers, queuing service middleware, and internal/external APIs, with expertise in end-to-end validation of business processes.

  • Proven experience in test automation for web applications with complex business logic.

  • Strong background in automated testing development using Java-based tools like Gauge and Selenium WebDriver.

  • Skilled in troubleshooting technical issues and crafting clear, comprehensive, and actionable defect reports.

  • Experience testing native mobile applications and supporting web services is a plus.

  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration Frameworks such as Jenkins and GoCD.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical and systems thinking in the detailed testing of business systems.

What would be great to have:

  • Familiarity with electronic payment products and providers, both functional and technical, is a plus.

  • Proven ability to contribute to a high level of credibility within a testing team.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with frequent changes.
