Job Description

Analytical Technology Manager

Albemarle Corporation is seeking an Analytical Technology manager to lead a global team of analytical chemists focused on customer support, manufacturing and process development for our lithium energy storage business. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a rapidly growing industry that is impacting the global future of energy.

This position will be based in the Charlotte area and will report to the Sr. Director of Quality Assurance and Analytical Technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage analytical projects, resources, and personnel for manufacturing process development and improvement and external customer support

  • Develop, motivate, and guide analytical technology team members located around the world

  • Lead efforts to harmonize and validate analytical methodologies across our global manufacturing sites

  • Lead development and implementation of new analytical technologies for manufacturing processes, including on-line analyses

  • Lead analytical projects including leading experiment design and data interpretation, as needed

  • Drive improvements in quality control laboratories and provide technical expertise, when needed

  • Maintain excellence in safety, health, and environmental practices

  • Drive a culture of continuous and long term improvement both in technology and safety

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or related field with at least 10+ years of experience

  • At least 5 years of direct people management experience

  • Technical acumen in multiple analytical chemistry techniques with significant expertise in method development for higher level analytical instrumentation

  • Willingness to travel to the other Albemarle US and international sites, as needed

  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical problem-solving skills

  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to interact and collaborate in an interdisciplinary team environment

  • Demonstrated project execution, organizational, planning, and time management skills

  • Self-motivated and self-directed
