Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced and results-oriented Lead Electrical Design Engineer to join our Eastman Corporate Engineering team. This position will work with both local and remote design teams to lead the execution of Electrical Engineering scope of work. As the Lead Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing and executing the Electrical Engineering scope for various large capital projects during Pre-FEED, FEED and Detail Design phases to ensure their successful completion. Your expertise in Electrical engineering principles and practices, combined with your extensive experience in the chemical industry, will be crucial in leading a project team of engineers and designers and driving innovation in our organization.
Location: Kingsport, TN or Houston, TX
Responsibilities
Develop and implement project-specific Electrical Engineering execution plan to ensure efficient and effective project execution
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, including all engineering disciplines, project managers, Operations and procurement, to ensure seamless project integration and successful project delivery.
Lead and manage the execution of Electrical Engineering scope of work at the selected engineering service provider in all phases (Pre-FEED, FEED and Detail Design)
Monitors and reports actual progress and forecasting / check for discipline activities, including management of labor hours and delivered documents
Lead the design and selection of electrical equipment considering factors such as safety, reliability, maintainability, cost and schedule
Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications and technical documents, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes and regulations
Apply industry codes and standards relevant to the chemical industry, such as NFPA 70, NEC, IEEE, and other applicable codes, in the design and evaluation of electrical systems and equipment
Oversee the procurement of electrical equipment, ensuring adherence to project requirements and specifications
Conduct thorough reviews and quality control checks to ensure compliance with design specifications and project requirements
Utilize software tools and applications, such as SKM, Bluebeam, Navisworks, AVEVA Engineering or equivalent and other engineering design software, to support electrical engineering activities and enhance project efficiency
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required. Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in Electrical Engineering field with focus on the chemical or petrochemical industry required
Minimum of 5 years of experience as lead Electrical Engineer, including experience in large capital projects execution
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills for implementation of cross-functional process improvements
Ability to mentor and develop lesser experienced team members
Proven experience in leading a team of engineers, with excellent leadership and communication skills
Familiarity with capital stage gate process and understanding of project execution
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Knowledge of safety regulations and standards related to Electrical Engineering in the chemical industry
Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus
Open to travel as needed
