RBW Studios Compliance Engineer in Kingston, New York

Ensure that lighting products meet UL 1598 and UL 2108 standards for luminaires and low voltage lighting systems. This involves coordinating with UL certification processes, interpreting regulatory requirements, and ensuring products comply with safety and performance standards. Liaise with testing labs and regulatory bodies like UL to manage and facilitate compliance testing and certification processes. Manage process, timeline, and workload for compliance and performance related responsibilities. Prepare detailed documentation and reports related to compliance, including test plans and results, certification applications, and compliance audits. Maintain accurate records of certifications and ensure they are up to date. Provide technical guidance and support to design and engineering teams to ensure compliance from the initial stages of product development. This involves leading safety design reviews and compliance plan reviews early in the product design cycle. Provide technical support to manufacturing and production teams by developing and implementing test protocols directly on the shop floor. Ensure these protocols are designed to maintain compliance with safety standards and improve product quality. This involves close collaboration with production managers to integrate compliance requirements seamlessly into manufacturing processes. Conduct and oversee various product tests such as thermal, ground-bonding and electrical safety tests to meet UL standards and other regulatory requirements. Stakeholder Interaction Communicate effectively with both internal stakeholders design teams, engineers, management) and external entities (regulatory bodies, certification labs to ensure clear understanding of compliance requirements and statuses. Oversee and manage the annual compliance budget. This includes allocating resources for testing, certification processes, and other compliance activities. Ensure that spending aligns with the companys strategic objectives while effectively managing costs and optimizing resource use. Preferred degree in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Discipline or similar 4+ years in product certification involving lighting and must have a thorough working knowledge of the North America UL standards. Thorough familiarity with relevant lighting standards in the US specifically UL 1598 and UL 2108, UL8750, JA 8, Title 24 and the certification process. Excellent organizational, communication and time management skills. Detailed-oriented and able to support multiple projects at the same time. Excellent interpersonal skills.
