Job Summary

The Department of History at Texas A&M University-Kingsville invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position specializing in 19 th- and 20 th-century European h istory. We are particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to subfields in African h istory or Central and South American h istory. The successful candidate will be expected to teach surveys in United States history both halves of the world history survey and contribute to the department's undergraduate and graduate programs.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in 1 9 th- and 20 th-century European h istory.

  • Teach survey courses in United States history

  • Secondary field in African h istory , South Asian, or Central and South American h istory.

  • Teach both halves of the world history survey courses.

  • Engage in scholarly research and publication.

  • Participate in service activities at the department, college, and university levels.

  • Advise and mentor students.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in History

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education.

  • A promising research agenda with the potential for publication.

  • Ability to teach a student body with a variety of learning styles.

  • Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching world history survey courses.

  • A record of scholarly publications.

  • Experience with online or hybrid teaching formats.
