UNC Health Care Outpatient Billing Analyst in Kinston, North Carolina

Summary:

The Outpatient Billing Analyst provides efficient and effective analysis of the outpatient billing process. Reviews data in the clinical record to assign the appropriate Outpatient/ED level visit and determine procedural charges including IV infusion and Observation charges. Enters charges daily for the Emergency and Outpatient Departments. Assures charges are entered correctly and follows-up on patient accounts that are rejected by the Lynx System. Works toward desirable outcomes with MD, staff, and agencies to promote and require compliance of all regulatory principles. Demonstrates knowledge of compliance, clinical processes, understanding of community and governmental resources. Has an awareness of legal and ethical issues, and maintains courtesy, respect and concern with staff, physicians and customers.

Responsibilities:

Hospital staff, medical staff, community and regulatory agencies. Conducts interactions in a manner that projects a positive image of the department and hospital. All contacts with customers are friendly, helpful and courteous.

Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT

  • 3 years' experience and knowledge of outpatient charge entry including observation and IV infusion preferred. Recent experience in healthcare management, managed care, revenue cycle, basic knowledge of ICD-10, and CPT coding guidelines, and an understanding of the current healthcare climate is desirable.

LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION

  • North Carolina Registered Nurse License.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS

  • Reading, Mathematics, Writing, Good knowledge and use of oral and written communication skills, computer skills. Must be able to work autonomously.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Exposure to electrical hazards (equipment use).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT

  • Standing, Walking, Sitting, Reaching, Talking, Hearing, Carrying, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, and Moving.
