Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems (AES) is seeking a Manager, Mechanical Drafting & Printed Wiring Board Design to join our diverse, energetic, and collaborative Quality Team in Kirkland, WA .

JOB SUMMARY

The Manager for Mechanical Drafting & Printed Wiring Board Design leads two separate functional teams both of which provide support across all Astronics AES for New Product Introduction / Development, Test Engineering, and Sustaining Engineering. The Mechanical Drafting team generates mechanical drawings and consolidates bills-of-material, while the PWB Design team works with Electrical Engineers for schematic review and component placement / circuit routing.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Establish and execute operational objectives and resource planning for the group and manage assignments to team members

  • Develop or maintain standardized metrics, reports, and meetings for consistent Mechanical Drafting and PWB Design support across all departments

  • Drive improvements to Mechanical Drafting and PWB Design guidelines to align with industry practices, governmental regulations, and internal / external stakeholder needs

  • Build and foster a highly capable, engaged, technical team of top talent that meets and exceeds the needs of the business in a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement

  • Propose and lead continuous improvement activities for department-related processes, procedures, guidelines, and software applications to ensure compliance with customer requirements, regulatory needs, business objectives, and industry best practices

  • Drive and lead cross-functional projects and key initiatives to develop consistent standards, aligned throughout the organization

  • Develop employees through training, mentoring, and coaching, and conduct routine performance feedback and annual compensation reviews

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree preferred).

  • Three years’ experience managing a team, to include performance management, resource allocation, task scheduling & tracking, and budgeting (Aerospace industry or experience in a regulated environment preferred).

  • Technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering drawings and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system experience (Printed Wiring / Circuit Board design experience preferred).

  • Experience or familiarity with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, OrCAD, Mentor Graphics, etc.).

EMPLOYMENT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • As a US Department of Defense Contractor, Astronics is bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be a US Person under ITAR to be eligible.

  • An offer of employment is contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment background screen and drug test which includes screening for the use of cannabis.

Base salary range is $102,687 - $154,031 per year.

Several job-related and non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to experience in comparable roles, skill sets, training, education, licensure or certifications, other qualifications, market conditions and business needs influence actual salary offered.
