Description

Astronics Advanced Electronic Systems (AES) is seeking a Sr. Buyer Planner to join our diverse and cohesive Supply Chain Management Team in Kirkland, WA .

JOB SUMMARY

As our Sr. Buyer Planner you will utilize your industry experience, extensive contract manufacturer, circuit card assemblies, electronic components and commodity knowledge and strategies (utilizing a deep understanding of competition, market, sources, industry contacts, industry best practices and company processes and products) in performing the job duties as follows:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain new and existing supplier relationships:

  • Gather research and analyze information, evaluating suppliers

  • Draw on internal cross functional resources to complete supplier selection and qualification

  • Monitor performance and supplier relationship to ensure compliance to agreements

  • Visit suppliers to further develop relationships and gain better understanding of their business

  • Cultivate relationship by navigating supplier hierarchy and system to ensure access to the right contact for the situation

  • Coordinate with Supplier Quality Engineer to drive root cause/corrective action with suppliers

  • Reach out to distribution partners to find potential suppliers/sources of hard to find parts

  • Evaluate vendor performance and relative risk, developing new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are no longer competitive or performing

  • Monitor inventory levels of assigned commodities and parts, revising order point levels and order quantities to optimize inventory investment

  • May provide lead role in business reviews and/or periodic supplier business reviews (SBR)

  • Initiates work transfers, as needed

  • Create long term, multi-year agreements, setting out terms and conditions outside of standard terms

  • Provide input into the development of best practices, processes, procedures, and guidelines

  • Respond to purchase requisitions and MRP demand with alternative solutions, understanding and anticipating the need behind the request and providing appropriate alternatives accordingly

  • Initiate and participate in continuous improvement projects and project teams as required, often taking a leadership role

  • Mentor and provide guidance to Buyer/Planner

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college. Will consider combination of certification (APICS and/or CPSM) and 5+ of experience in lieu of degree.

  • Demonstrates competency (typically 5+ years of direct experience in the duties and responsibilites of the position.)

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally quarterly

  • Intermediate abilities in the Microsoft Office Suite

  • Data base user interface and query software

  • Enterprise resource planning ERP software

  • Project management software

  • Strong knowledge of regulated industry, sourcing for related commodity and technology

  • Ability to read and comprehend drawings and internal documentation package

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • As a US Department of Defense Contractor, Astronics is bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be a US Person under ITAR to be eligible.

  • An offer of employment is contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment background screen and drug test which includes screening for the use of cannabis.

Base salary range for the Buyer/Planner is $79,293 - $118,940 per year.
