DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this role, you will collaborate closely with an experienced welder to acquire the essential skills required for safe and effective work practices. As an intern, you will be trained in a range of skilled trade responsibilities, including the repair of components, structural welding of bridge elements, and the maintenance of equipment frames, hitches, and plows. Additionally, you will engage in the fabrication of repair and body parts for diverse applications. This position will also provide you with the opportunity to enhance your skills and experience in welding specifically related to construction equipment. You will develop a foundational understanding of mechanical functions, gain basic welding knowledge, and learn to operate welding equipment proficiently.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Work schedule will vary based on agreement between high school and COPA location This internship will be for the 2024/25 school year. You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.  

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements: You must be at least 16 years of age. You must be a junior or senior enrolled in high school during the 2024 - 2025 school year.

Additional Requirement: Letter of Recommendation: You must attach a Letter of Recommendation from your school's co-op coordinator, career or guidance counselor, or similar designated school professional indicating you meet your school's requirements and are being recommended for this opportunity.

Work Permit: Minors will be required to submit their Work Permit upon acceptance of this position.

By participating in this program, the student and school agree to use the Commonwealth's Training Plan, Statement of Responsibilities, and Student Performance Evaluation. Forms will be provided to the student upon acceptance of this position.

Must be a vo-tech (career and technical center) student in an approved cooperative vocational training program that has prepared the student for the duties and the description of work described in this posting.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.
