Job Overview:

APTIM is seeking an experienced Architect to support a varying portfolio of projects for Federal clients. APTIM Architects lend their knowledge and experience to projects for the Department of Defense, the Department of Energy, the Federal Transit Administration, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and various coastal protection authorities. Examples of Architectural work include: federal support buildings, DOE facilities, housing projects, maintenance facilities, infrastructure projects, site development, rapid disaster infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • A seasoned experienced professional with a full understanding of Architectural design in resolving a wide range of issues in creative ways.

  • Work includes, among other things, conceptual studies, cost and planning studies, layouts, design calculations, specification development and construction documents.

  • May perform in project leadership role and/or may supervise the activities of lower-level personnel.

  • Development of project design basis, development of specifications, and performance of detailed engineering.

  • Ensures conformance to applicable Architectural codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures.

  • Maintains and promotes a focus on APTIM's end product whether engineering, fabrication or construction.

  • Ensures effective communications among other engineering disciplines.

  • Ensures effective management of change.

  • Assumes responsibility for cost, schedule, quantity and budget control.

  • Keep abreast of developments and changes within the industry and competitors.

  • Write business plans and proposals that anticipate and/or meet client need

  • Allocate staff and resources to meet objectives and investigate and implement ways to improve the efficiency of a service or operation

  • Provide direction on individual staff development

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires Bachelor's Degree in Architecture with a minimum of 6 years related experience.

  • RA required. NCARB Record is preferred.

  • Is familiar with codes and standards of IBC, IECC, UFC, UFGS, MasterSpec, and SpecsIntact and is generally current on latest engineering and design methods.

  • Possesses a technical knowledge of the detail design engineering process.

  • Strong leadership skills; will be responsible to provide leadership to managers within a function or region; may also manage first-line supervisors and/or professional staff

  • Strong relationship development skills and experience; develops relationships with key internal/external customers to identify emerging needs

  • Candidates must be willing to travel for infrequent field assignments.

  • AutoCAD, Micro-Station, Revit experience required.
