About the role:

The Payroll Accounting Specialist monitors, analyzes and controls all payroll processing activity, including compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, interfacing with external payroll provider, and payroll reporting. The Payroll Accounting Specialist also specializes in the processes of system configuration for time and expense reporting data, final check processing for terminated employees, supplemental and off cycle check processing, leave accruals, and performs various special projects as assigned. The Payroll Accounting Specialist will also oversee the Accounts Payable process and be responsible for recording and paying all invoices received and processing expense reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Day to day timesheet management and periodic floor checks with follow-up

  • Collect timesheets at end of pay period, check for accuracy, solicit and monitor corrections needed. Once completed, import into Costpoint, calculate Health & Welfare and add allowance lines. Compute and post leave accruals.

  • Import timesheets into iSolved and process payroll under supervision of Accounting Manager

  • Collect and file all payroll reports and assist with General Ledger import post-payroll

  • Time administration - set up new employees in Time and assist with initial login, maintain workforces, approval groups, etc.

  • New employee import/setup in iSolved and Costpoint

  • PAR management and tracking

  • Monitor incentives that need to be repaid by terminated employees

  • Process zero payroll tax returns for states not covered by GovCon Pay

  • Insurance reconciliations and reporting

  • Audit support

  • Assist with any reports requiring payroll data

  • Track and process all invoices received, request approvals, and enter into Accounts Payable

  • Process all payments by check, wire, ACH, or online

  • CAN check data entry and process and ship checks weekly per contractual requirement

  • Monitor and process expense reports

  • Expense module administration including granting access, assisting employees with expense report completion, troubleshooting problem areas

    Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Basic understanding of full-cycle accounting with emphasis on Accounts Payable and Payroll, but need to understand how all of it flows together and impacts other areas

  • Working knowledge of multi-state payroll strongly preferred

  • Associate degree or higher or equivalent experience

  • Strong Excel and Office 365 skills - able to create documentation of processes

  • Knowledge of government contract accounting and Costpoint is required

  • iSolved software a plus, but not required
