Position Summary:
Under the general direction of the Vice President of Corporate Supply Chain and Resource Management performs functions to plan, implement, direct and maintain Covenant Health Corporate Purchasing including service, supply and capital purchases.
Responsible for strategic direction, identification, and implementation of process improvement opportunities for Covenant procurement processes including development of necessary tools to improve efficiency and workflow.
Responsible for coordinating and directing daily activities of Corporate Purchasing (service, supply, capital assets, pharmaceutical), for the Enterprise. Directs procurement activities for all Covenant entities, both acute and non-acute, including vendor standardization, and support of clinical standardization and value analysis activities.
Acts as liaison to Covenant leadership to coordinate evaluation and selection of capital assets with appropriate vendors. Performs extensive benchmarking research to ensure the quality and best price of acquisitions for Covenant Health. Directs capital procurement to ensure that equipment is standardized whenever possible.
In coordination with Strategic Sourcing objectives, conducts analyses and negotiations for capital acquisitions and equipment purchasing agreements to ensure appropriate terms and prices are secured.
Works with other leaders to create an integrated, Enterprise-wide approach to procurement of materials and services which effectively and efficiently meets the needs of all Covenant Health departments. The primary objectives are reached through directing the purchasing staff.

Responsibilities
Directs the procurement function for Covenant Health to include hiring, training, evaluation and supervision of assigned purchasing staff.
Provides communication and coordination of the purchasing processes from issuance of purchase order until invoices are matched. Ensures discrepancies, open orders, and accruals are managed and resolved.
Develops and implements criteria for the measurement of department and employee performance. Provides monitoring and reporting of said performance.
Develops, implements, and maintains Supply Chain procurement policies and procedures.
Directs the capital procurement process to include negotiating purchases and working with clinical specialists to determine equipment functional requirements.
Promotes appropriate expansion and utilization of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) for purchase orders, confirmations, receiving and invoices. Manages related processes to ensure effectiveness.
Coordinates and negotiates bulk or group buys for the Enterprise and communicates those transaction accordingly.
Participates with Finance in the yearly capital budget process for Covenant Health.
Works with Corporate Finance to provide assistance in asset tracking related to capital purchases.
Collaborates with both Supply Chain and Enterprise leadership in the development of strategic initiatives and improvement of operational processes.
Provides routine and special reporting to other leaders as may be required from time to time.
Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep informed of latest trends in the field.
Participates in teams and serves on committees as requested.
Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Preference will be given to those with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field. High school graduate or equivalent is required.
Minimum Experience:
5 years’ experience in supply chain management and/or finance. Preference may be given to individuals with healthcare-specific experience. Significant analytical and computer experience required.
